If you are in receipt of certain benefits you are entitled to a CWP cold weather payment,made by DWP.
This is when weather stations in your area register below zero for 7 consecutive days.
It is an automatic payment made separately from the winter fuel allowance,and the warm home discount.

I don't think it's right either. Think I'll set it to one side. Trying to contact them is horrendous . Took many calls to get pension as didn't get application form and wasn't able to verify on line.
Apparently letters get list in system.
I have no faith in DWP and don't want to mess up my pension.

I totally agree. You are in danger of opening a can of worms.
I’ve had no end of trouble with them and forms.
And every time I have dealings with them I get confusing and conflicting information.

Just leave it to one side.

Have they lumped a couple of payments together? My mam got £600 out of the blue which turned out to be her normal winter payment of £200 plus the £400 extra for this year.

We both had a letter, and received £250 each.

We each received £250 into our bank accounts. I don't recall any letters.

If you're receiving state pension you're entitled to the winter fuel allowance/cold weather payment whether you got a letter or not. It's more this year than usual and is normally shared between couples, hence you got half each (as did we).

You don't need to contact the DWP or pay it back, it's yours!

I wouldn’t worry about it, your husband received a letter and maybe your letter is delayed or gone astray with all these postal delays and disruptions. Just enjoy it

Usually the DWP split this payment. This year we each got £250 paid into our separate accounts. I made him hand his over PDQ because I pay the energy bills.
