Many times I have to watch children, we cook, bake, have tea.

Empty the dishwasher, talk to my husband, write a shopping list, check out emails, do a bit of office work, listen to an audio book, put the recycling out, there’s always something to do for a few minutes.

Once everything is cooking and the table's set, I sit down, put my feet on the horizontal cooker door handle and read a book. Might sip some wine while I'm at it.

Have a drink and watch TV, do a Sainsbury's order, plan next week's meals, chat on WhatsApp, talk to dh about all the above.

Mostly things that have already been said, but sometimes I do Duolingo or answer the phone.

Do the washing, hang the washing out, wash up, clean out the cat tray, tidy up, make up the packed lunch, put laundry away. Any housework that can be done basically.

SachaMac Wed 11-Jan-23 19:08:20

If it’s something I can just leave in the oven rather than constantly stirring on the hob I’ll generally tidy up the kitchen, empty/fill dishwasher, empty washing machine or tumble drier. If I’m tired I’ll make a cup of tea and just sit down & watch tv, read or have a look at Gransnet.

If I’m feeling energetic I might nip around with the vacuum cleaner, mop the floor or pop upstairs and put a few things away. Once Ive eaten my evening meal I really don’t feel like doing a great deal around the house so a quick burst while it’s cooking is good.

Lovetopaint037 Wed 11-Jan-23 19:38:28

Listen to LBC or music. Probably drink some wine.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 11-Jan-23 19:59:54

Whoever isn’t cooking sits at the island we chat, have a glass of 🍷🥂 and catch up on our day.

Silvergirl Wed 11-Jan-23 20:02:57

If it is posh food I drink wine. If just run of the mill food I play one of the radio music channels quite loudly.

lixy Wed 11-Jan-23 20:10:21

In the evening I listen to the news on radio 4 while I prepare our tea.

My favourite baking time is Saturday morning - I love radio 4 on a Saturday morning.

Other than that I do the crossword, plan future meals and shopping lists, bits and bobs of housework, maybe even write a letter.
