Dress Agencies.

I took a nice coat to a dress agency in a nearby town in the autumn, they were hopeful it would sell. It’s a few miles away, and we don’t go there very often.

Have enquired a while ago, hadn’t sold but she said to leave it until mid January.

The shop doesn’t seem to be open on the days it says it should be, and the phone doesn’t seem to get answered either. hmm

I have the feeling they have gone belly up, but would like my coat back. Not sure how to go about it if they are never open or contactable. (Have texted but no reply unsurprisingly).

If it was my home town would be easier, but it means a purpose journey over there and if they are closed….

Has anyone had a similar experience?

Prepare yourself for the shop to have vanished and your coat with it. Visit the town to check.
Try searching e bay to see if your coat is being sold online; I knew of a manageress of a charity shop who selected choice items that were donated and advertised them online, pocketing the profit; she was discovered when she sold a complete outfit, including hat, shoes and bag to the original owner who had recognised it.

Have you Googled them to see if there is any news online? There may be other people complaining, or a Facebook page somewhere with news...

Thanks.

I have been on that town’s Facebook page, someone posted that there is a note in the shop window saying it’s closed because of family illness.

Hmm, will have to see if that is still the case when I go over there. Cynic that I am!

Similar problem here. A rather smart curtain agency opened here. On their advice I left four pairs with them and enquired after six weeks. Did not see staff or my curtains again.
