It's -2 out there but at least no wind.

I'm meeting a friend for a walk at 11.00 when I hope it will be a degree or two higher!

TerriBull

Wrapping up warm and out for a walk later when I believe it will be reaching a balmy 1 degree.

I absolutely take your point Aussie Gran, on balance whilst not enjoying cold weather as I've got older realise I can no longer stand extreme heat, 35 degrees in daytime sounds awful, sympathies.

I must remind you all that last July the UK reached 40 degrees and my flat was 33 degrees at midnight! We have done our time.

It’s been overcast all day, reached +2, now heading back down again, pockets of ice everywhere. Stayed in, I hate being cold Raynauds kicks in.

blue sky and sunny here but so cold! ok, not freezing like some places but cold enough for me.some slippy frost here, DP had to go running out this morning as our postie had slipped and fallen over, our street is on an incline.Poor chap said he was ok but limped off.

I live in Ontario and at this time of year we are usually in a deep freeze with loads of snow. Today it’s +6 c and no snow in sight, very strange but I like it.

Yes went outside but rushed back in - it’s 🥶

It's lovely out here in Scotland. Bright sunshine, no wind to speak of, temperatures only just creeping above freezing. It's a welcome change after what feels like weeks of dreichness, but it does horrible things to my asthma.

AGAA4 Tue 17-Jan-23 14:28:09

Heavy snow here in North Wales now so glad I wasn't tempted out by the sunshine earlier.

Kate1949 Tue 17-Jan-23 14:16:18

It's beautiful in our bit of Birmingham today. Cold but lovely and sunny. We walked to our local for lunch. They have a January sale on so a very cheap lunch. smile

We walked for 75 minutes in a sunny 0 degrees sunshine . It was quite invigorating but I was glad to get home!

Have to go out again tonight for Bookclub - but it includes dinner and wine so that's OK smile

lovebeigecardigans1955 Tue 17-Jan-23 12:57:32

It was -2 overnight and I've put a blanket over the car windscreen which I hope will be helpful when I eventually go out - but not today.

It's a balmy 1 degree now so I might venture out to the recycling bin - such excitement.

BlueBalou Tue 17-Jan-23 12:26:58

-4 in northwest Wiltshire, bright blue skies.
I took DDog for a walk earlier and surprisingly it was dry and not icy underfoot. There’s black ice on many roads around here so definitely not going anywhere in the car today.

Doodledog Tue 17-Jan-23 12:25:24

It's very cold outside, but sunny. I'm not going out today, but that's largely because I got very little sleep last night and can't be bothered to do very much at all.

I usually go to my knitting group on Wednesdays, but I'll see if there's been more snow before deciding tomorrow. If it's icy I might stay indoors and knit here by myself grin

SueDonim Tue 17-Jan-23 12:20:40

I think I must be hardened to the Scottish weather. It’s minus 2 here but because there is no snow and it’s sunny, I think it’s a rather nice day. 😂

MadeInYorkshire Tue 17-Jan-23 11:30:03

Don't need to - it's 2*C in my room as it is!

AGAA4 Tue 17-Jan-23 11:29:50

My car is frozen up and the driveway slippery with snow.My plan for going into town are scuppered for now.

Davida1968 Tue 17-Jan-23 11:26:49

Bright & frosty here in northern England. Still below freezing. I've brought in the bin and topped up the bird feeders & table. Also thawed their frozen drinking water; really important for the birds at all times, but especially in this weather.

-4 here still but sun is peeking through so hopefully will warm a little.

Baggs Tue 17-Jan-23 10:00:23

I had to drop a wheelie bin on its back to be able to open its lid. A screw driver or something would have worked against its frozen shutness but I didn't have one handy ❄️

MiniMoon Tue 17-Jan-23 09:58:34

It's almost 10 am, and here in south west Northumberland it is -4°c. The cat wants to go out, but when he feels the chill on his nose he turns round and comes back in.

Witzend Tue 17-Jan-23 09:12:48

Yes, but only to put out some bird pudding for the ground feeders and de-ice the bird baths.
Light frost but no wind. Sun trying to break through scattered cloud.

Redhead56 Tue 17-Jan-23 09:09:45

❄️ Snow here outskirts of Liverpool 3C no sun no wind.

Georgesgran Tue 17-Jan-23 09:08:50

Bright and cold here - been out to feed the birds, but ‘big coat’ weather later I think.

sodapop Tue 17-Jan-23 09:00:05

We have snow too but not a great deal. The sun is shining now.

Ailidh Tue 17-Jan-23 08:57:58

-4 here but gorgeous. The little bit of snow last night seemed to freeze as it fell, so the pavements are a little crunchy but not slippy yet.
