I had no morning sickness with any of my four pregnancies -probably part of the reason I was happy to be pregnant that many times - but I had cravings with my second. My fridge was stocked with black cherry yogurt, crunchie bars and Tizer.

Morning sickness
(88 Posts)What food/drink did you go off when you were pregnant?
For several months I could only manage plain cream crackers, farleys rusks, without milk and opal fruits.Chinese takeaway was banned and although I love my tea normally,I couldn't stand it or coffee.
Three pages of personal bodily functions of over 40 years ago?
Have I logged into Mumsnet by accident.
Apologies if this is brusque OP, but certainly as far as I am concerned I have no interest in my own biological details of between 41 and 50 years ago and certainly don’t expect anybody else to.
No morning sickness thankfully but awful craving for pink grapefruit!!!
Sick both times with both babies, but only for about 14 weeks. I feel so sorry for the ladies who are sick all the way through.
My cravings were for tomato ketchup and prawns. Happily we lived near an Indian takeaway where the staff knew me well. I had worked in the pub next door a couple of nights a week for a few of years. They used to give my husband cut price prawn starters.
The sickness used to stop round midday. Ginger biscuits helped a lot. Them and just some water.
Meant can’t have ‘em not can
For about 10 years I used to smoke 20 a day. One evening I thought "yuck, I'm not enjoying this ciggie" and stubbed it out. A week or so later I missed a period which was very unusual. Turned out I was pregnant and I've never smoked since. I must have only been a few weeks pregnant then. I was nauseous, but not sick, 24/7 until I gave birth though. I had a particular liking for soft, freshley baked white bread lathered with butter. Needless to say I put on too much weight. Not so bad with the 2nd pregnancy.
Caffeine gives me horrendous migraines
Coffee chocolate tea Can have them
But it’s a small sacrifice
Much better than the migraines which laid me up for days.
I was sick from day 1 no missed periods doctor treated me for a ulcer ! Nurse suggested a pregnancy test lol .Puked for England hated coffee any meat cooking smells beer and cigarette smalls were terrible too
I went off coffee in one pregnancy and tea with the other- one boy one girl but can't remember whch way round it was!
NotaGran55 I too suffered HG in both pregnancies. I shuddered remembering how awful when reading your post. 2nd pregnancy was the worst. No ultra sounds in those days and was carrying twins. Six weeks before due date visit to GP when a student midwife declared two heart beats. Shipped into hospital immediately as already lost weight. Pumped full of fluids, drugs and HG reduced a lot. One food I almost became addicted to was tinned tomatoes, something I had never eaten before but hospital served them with breakfast. I asked for more and more and as I was basically being fed to gain weight they appeared whenever I asked. First time they appeared after delivery I started to eat and spat them out, they tasted awful. Couldn't understand why I had liked them so much for the 6 weeks before.. Pregnancy does strange things to your body.
I had the reverse of cravings with my first baby, I had always loved Batgers Chinese figs, and used to stock up when they hit the shops at Christmas. When pregnant I couldn’t touch them - weird, second time round I became sick around midday ever day for weeks and weeks. I took my watch off, turned clocks faced down, but afterwards when I checked sure enough it started between 11.55 and 12.05. I was an early bird in those days too.
Had all day sickness from 3 -20 weeks. The faintest smell of coffee or cooked food sent me flying to the loo. Lived on toast and rich tea biscuits. This episode was probably the start of the end of my first marriage.
First pregnancy was awful. I was a visiting nurse in central Louisiana and most of those women started cooking big meals (fried onions, okra, greens etc) at 7 a.m. I often had to run to the bathroom in their small homes. They were incredibly sympathetic though. Second pregnancy I sailed through, not even realising I was pregnant until the second trimester!!
Totally went off coffee and the smell of raw meat sent me rushing to the bathroom - definitely stayed away from the butcher's
I was fine during all pregnancies but couldn't eat carbohydrates during my last one. No potatoes, bread, rice, pasta, or even my favourite semolina. It had no consequences except constipation - for the first and last time in my life. Back to normal straight afterwards.
Baby was born at 2.15 pm though - so lunch had finished and I was starving. They rustled up a dish of goulash - full of onions! I refused to eat that as I wanted to breast feed!
Me too
I was sick and felt sick all the time during the first 3 months with my first baby. I was fine for the 2nd and 3rd baby.
The smell of food especially fish and chips from the chippie made me feel worse. Everything I ate tasted sweet for the first few months but I desperately craved the smell and taste of vinegar!
2nd and 3rd I craved oranges.
I was very lucky, just very faint nausea for a couple of months with my first, nothing with my 2nd. I don’t think dd had any sickness, either - which is probably one reason why she was so late to realise she was pregnant with 2 and 3 - first scan of 2 showed 14.5 weeks - she was expecting maybe 8 or 9!
My first pregnancy was in the 60s and I did suffer with morning sickness, my doctor offered me medication which fortunately I declined. Not sure if it was thalidomide but I'm relieved I didn't take it.
I was never sick, but I went off coffee completely. I see I am far from alone in this.
I was sick every day with first pregnancy, right up til I was hospitalised with pre eclampsia. If I was sick in the morning, the day was ok. If not, I was nauseous all day until I was sick. My craving was for pickles, onions, gherkins,it didn't matter. Pregnancy number two I was sick many times each day for the first four months. I could only drink tomato juice and couldn't stand coffee or tea. My craving was for melon.
I had the usual morning sickness with two of my 3 pregnancies. I used to drive to work praying I wouldn't throw up in the car ! Not A Gran that must have been dreadful!!!! It was bad enough for me ! I was sick in labour though will all three babies. The morning sickness lasted about 16 weeks then I would wake one day and know immediately it has passed - great feeling.
Had one day of nausea with my first. Before I knew I was pregnant, just thought I had some sort of bug. After that day i was fine with that one and next two pregnancies. Third pregnancy - twins. With these if did feel nuaseaous whenever I was actually hungry. So, if this came on, would need to have something anything to stop iot.
Only time I ever had any cravings during my pregnancies was i nthe twin one, when each evening hubbie had to make cheese on toast for me. Not proper cheese -it had to be the plastic slices which I have never bought before or since AND toast and cheese had to be well overdone ( burnt) under the grill.
Peppers! Still can’t eat them to this day.
I yearned for a jar of morello cherries.
My DD was sick all the way through first pregnancy, sick with the twins but fine for her last one.
GagaJo
DD had hyperemesis gravidarum all the way through her pregnancy, vomiting for the last time after giving birth. She vomited between 5 & 8 (sometimes more) times a day. Lost loads of weight. Was hospitalised with suspected organ failure. Baby was big and healthy and remains robust and vigorous.
This is how my pregnancies were as well, and one of my dds had it even worse. On Iv fluids for months on end — the babies all turned out healthy and thriving but oh did the mothers suffer. I’m quite sure my teeth never truly recovered from the endless vomiting
