Greetings Cards

Until I dust which is a very movable feast in terms of how long that might be.

I keep my Mother's Day cards up for about a week. Then I write the year on the back and they are stored away.

My Mother's Day flowers from M&S arrived with no water and didn't last very long at all The ends are usually in a plastic bag full of cotton wool type material which is soaked in water. Yet I don't like to complain to my daughter who ordered them It seems so unkind??

Usually a week then into the recycle bin unless they have a letter written inside or have been hand made by my grandchildren. I have saved cards from my big occasions, eg: congratulations cards from when my children were born & our silver & ruby wedding anniversaries just for sentimental reasons, the longer I keep these the harder it is to consider parting with them.

I keep them up for about two weeks, then put them away until I have a sort out. Today I've just thrown out my 60th birthday cards which I received five years ago.

Normally keep cards for about a week but hand crafted cards I often frame and swap around like this Christmas card from 7yr old grandson

We have a beautiful heart shaped card hanger in our hall. We only replace cards to make room for the next lot! My Mother’s Day cards only lasted for 6 days and were then replaced with my daughters birthday cards. They will stay up until any Easter cards arrive.
The only cards I take down early are Christmas cards (because I hate Christmas).
Once the cards come down I throw them away. Not the sentiment type.

Usually keep cards for a couple of weeks if they are from my DS, DDiL, DGS & DGD. Then filed away with others that they have sent. Birthday & Christmas cards are recycled after a week.

Mother’s Day cards are different from other holidays (Christmas, Birthdays…) especially from your children, grandchildren.

I’m all for keeping a special box as they accumulate over the years. It’s a way of collecting wishes, thoughts, thank yous as your kids grow into maturity. At some point they will see their growth in their own handwriting.

Any Christmas cards with pictures are kept for the same reason - except in photo form.

My flowers from Bloomin Wild are better now than when they were delivered on mother's day, they look to have at least another week left, Similar with a supermarket bunch although they are starting to wilt a bit now

Yes, my Bloom and Wild flowers are still going strong and showing no signs of wilting 10 days after they were delivered.

I’m reading Oranges & Lemons by Christopher Fowler. Not only am I learning masses of fascinating London history but …. I now know what FFF means 😜

Just the day of the celebration ,except for Christmas cards they usually arrive early and come down at New Year

Mother’s Day, birthday, anniversary cards etc, a week. Christmas cards from whenever they arrive to about 2nd January. Only cards I keep are DH & my anniversary cards to each other along with our 2 birthday & Christmas cards. Oh I always keep my Mother’s Day cards too from my sons.

Ages then into a box especially from my kids or grandchildren.
Some are just so nice 😊

In my eyes one week is enough for me.

I dry some of my flowers and press the rest. I have some flowers that are many years old. They get changed round now and again.

I'd say about two weeks for cards.
I tend to look at them a couple of times after they arrive and struggle to throw some away.
I have a collection of "lovely" ones - including some made by my children/grandchildren.

About 1 week or until it am dusting next.

I We keep cards up for about a week or sometimes two, then they are added to a 'treasure box'. I value cards sometimes more than presents as someone has taken the trouble, not only to buy the cards but to write on them and they are so worth keeping. My late Mother kept her Birthday cards from when she was a year old and they are absolutely beautiful, like postcards in those days and it's wonderful for my Grandchildren to actually see cards with their Great-Great-Great Grandmother's writing on, kept for posterity.

Mine are going to be up for another couple of weeks as I only received one of them yesterday, thanks to our wonderful Royal Mail. Posted in the uk 1st class on the 14th march, it made me laugh as the message on the front of the envelope said ‘not to be opened till Mother’s Day’. - what next year!

Usually about one week, then they go into the recycling. However, I do keep a small number of "precious" ones, which go into my memories box. For example handmade ones from my Grandchildren, and I even have a few from my own children, who are now both in their 50's. Yes, I'm a softy, and proud of it.

Cards other than Christmas usually a week. This year I told famiky not to waste money on anything to do with Mother's Day. As DSs were staying over weekend they managed to sneak in a small box of chocs and a bunch of daffodils. Very reasonable gifts considering my request and the current climate.

My lot know that I don't like cards. I won't have flowers, either (allergies) just plants for the garden. I've still to plant them - and I'm working my way through a hamper.

About a week then they go into a box with other immediate family cards. I was disappointed in my flowers this year, looked beautiful for a few days but then some didn’t even open. Lovely DS sends them every year and I’m disappointed for him more than me. The worst flowers I’ve ever bought for myself were from Bloom and Wild and no response when I complained.
