Name Labels for School. Can anybody help?

We use Stamptasic stamps. You get the person’s name on a little stamp and a stamp pad and that’s all you need. It lasts 50 washes at least. It’s absolutely brilliant. Having sewed hundreds of these when my girls were young it’s a relief to simply stamp the name on.

Me too. I was very thrifty and crafty and managed to get all three first names and our surname onto one tape, so I could just fold them appropriately and they’d do for any of the DC. Obviously I wasn’t sufficiently thrifty to avoid over-ordering.

I’m hanging onto them just in case one of my 40 somethings ever needs a name tape sewing into their coat.

You could save them for the grandchildren, for use when their aged parent is in a care home and needs her clothes labelled. Oh, no, I've just thought - maybe the girls won't be recognised by then by their maiden name.

I soon gave up the sewing and just used marker pen or biro. Didnt even write all the name on them. Wrote just as much as needed.
I used to find short cuts for all sorts of things. Still do.

These are the self adhesive name labels I recommended earlier. They go through the washing machine hundreds of times and don’t come off. So much easier than sewing them in and more comfortable as some labels are lumpy on kids clothes. I got 60 labels for about £10.

I can sew - but never wanted to do name tapes. I used to take everything to the local uniform shop (although I didn't buy from there) and they would do it for a small fee. I'm another who just put the surname in.

Your local dry cleaner is your friend.

Decades ago I sent those pesky Cash's name tapes along with the togs and the very nice lady did the job, around 50 pence a label, if I remember rightly. Worth every penny!

In our case, his school does specify they want the sewn on labels for the rugby kit so that is the way it is! Maybe I ought to take lessons somewhere...

It's not rocket science!
I recommend using a thimble though, pushing the needle through a garment and a label can make your fingers sore.

Take lessons on how to sew a name tape in? I can’t believe you’re unable to do such a simple, albeit boring, task. Have you tried looking on YouTube?

I managed to get some for our GD's clothes, when our son was a single dad, which could be sewn in or could be attached with a little plastic gadget, a bit like those tags that attach price labels. They came as a set with ones for clothes and some for shoes, which stuck on. Unfortunately, I can't remember where I got them, but they were really useful.
