Well I’m not going to be saved as my Android phone stayed silent during the alert.
How about you?

Turned off notifications so it wouldn’t go off. Can’t abide the Governments BS.

I was in my daughter's car, driving 4 teenagers to a frisbee match and all alarms went off simultaneously at 2.59. It produced much mirth amongst said teenagers!

Nothing for me, do or DD.
We are not the chosen

A Government spokesperson said: “This is completely untrue – there are no connections with Infosys in the running of the Emergency Alerts system.”

No nothing for me so I'm doomed as well.Hubby got his.

To misquote Mandy Rice Davies, 'He would say that wouldn't he?' grin

3.6 million given to 3 to facilitate this.

I would be more concerned about Infosys receiving £3.6 million than 3.

Our phones went off pretty much simultaneously including my daughter's work phone a few seconds later, at which point she said " I forgot I had 2 phones!".

iPhone on EE went off on time all dickety boo

Applegran Mon 24-Apr-23 17:13:43

I'm on ID network - which remained silent - we heard no alert.

notgoneyet Mon 24-Apr-23 17:46:20

iPhone (old 8plus) and PlusNet. Made me jump out of my skin at 14.59

Batworthy Mon 24-Apr-23 18:32:28

I heard that the contract is being handled by a Japanese firm, who then sub-contract Infosys.
I don't know if this is true, but with this government's record of self-interest, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if this is another way if extracting money from the public purse.
Watch this space!

My bloody i-phone was the absolute opposite of silent; it went off at 2.58, again at 3.04 and then again a couple of mins after that. I was travelling home on a coach at the time and could have done without it. The only consolation is that I was not the only person having multiple alerts

Probably because you were moving and picking up signals from various masts

No idea. DH's phone was in the car, mine was in the depths of my handbag in the coat cupboard in another room, so I wouldn't have heard it if it had rung.

pinkjj27 Mon 24-Apr-23 19:24:08

My phone made no sounds but I noticed it was flashing blue with a written alert on it but I only happened to see it by chance.

Rumbabba Mon 24-Apr-23 21:39:58

I couldn’t believe it! I was in M&S this morning enjoying a coffee with a friend, when all of a sudden, the Emergency Alert alarm went off on my phone…at 10.23….What!!! I sure did get some funny looks from people around.

Saetana Mon 24-Apr-23 22:39:52

Apparently there were big problems with Three's network and 3G phones would not have received it, also its possible it may not have been received due to phones not having been fully updated (operating system). I got mine on Virgin/O2 with my iPhone on time and my friend on EE with a Samsung did as well. Have heard of all sorts of problems, including people receiving extra alerts in the early hours of the morning - fortunately I turned mine off after the test. A small number of people could not make or receive calls afterwards. I know it was a test, but hardly a resounding success.

Saggi Mon 24-Apr-23 23:08:49

Well my provider is Tesco and I heard it LOUD and clear. Jumped three foot in the air!

Foxygloves Tue 25-Apr-23 00:02:49

Surely the last word?

Tallulah2 Tue 25-Apr-23 08:38:19

I have a Samsung Galaxy J5 2016 and I didn’t get the alert. When I googled apparently it’s too old! That will explain why I couldn’t find the emergency alert listed in my settings (I was going to turn it off).

OldRose Tue 25-Apr-23 10:47:23

I'm with Virgin and it went off as scheduled, but was pretty underwhelming! grin As another friend said, I've had louder text alerts. It certainly wouldn't have me rushing out to see if Russian tanks were rolling down the road! wink

Batworthy Tue 25-Apr-23 11:58:40

It has been confirmed that Fujitsu are contracted for the emergency messages, and Infosys are subcontracted - whatever that means.
Lots of money, I presume.

my Sky mobile samsung when off on time
