Well I’m not going to be saved as my Android phone stayed silent during the alert.
How about you?

I was in the living room with my DD and grown up DGD . We had we had 6 apple devises in the room with us which all did the alarm but the loudest was my DD Apple Watch 😂

In the 80s we lived close enough to Bradwell power to hear it hum.
Also in the 80s there was also a lot of military stuff going on that was never reported ( quiet right)
We often joked that at least when/ if the proverbial his the fan it’ll be quick.

Family were visiting. My DD1 and SIL got the alarm and message but we didn’t and neither did our grandsons. I have my four turned down quite often so I am doomed!

I didn’t realise that the U.K. is one of the few areas that hasn’t been doing regular alarm checks. Not sure what happens when one country shoots down a nuclear warhead especially if it’s over an un unconnected country.

My brother was in the military and was on a course about nuclear fall out. He suggested we just go outside and get it over with.

I got it. I am with Tesco

I’m on the Three network - no alarm. 🙁

It has been confirmed that Fujitsu are contracted for the emergency messages, and Infosys are subcontracted - whatever that means.
Lots of money, I presume.

I don’t know much about who owns Infosys, but they do a lot of subcontract work with bigger tech firms. There are a lot of similar consultancy and contract firms.

I'm with Virgin and it went off as scheduled, but was pretty underwhelming! grin As another friend said, I've had louder text alerts. It certainly wouldn't have me rushing out to see if Russian tanks were rolling down the road! wink

I have a Samsung Galaxy J5 2016 and I didn’t get the alert. When I googled apparently it’s too old! That will explain why I couldn’t find the emergency alert listed in my settings (I was going to turn it off).

Surely the last word?

Well my provider is Tesco and I heard it LOUD and clear. Jumped three foot in the air!

Apparently there were big problems with Three's network and 3G phones would not have received it, also its possible it may not have been received due to phones not having been fully updated (operating system). I got mine on Virgin/O2 with my iPhone on time and my friend on EE with a Samsung did as well. Have heard of all sorts of problems, including people receiving extra alerts in the early hours of the morning - fortunately I turned mine off after the test. A small number of people could not make or receive calls afterwards. I know it was a test, but hardly a resounding success.

I couldn’t believe it! I was in M&S this morning enjoying a coffee with a friend, when all of a sudden, the Emergency Alert alarm went off on my phone…at 10.23….What!!! I sure did get some funny looks from people around.

My phone made no sounds but I noticed it was flashing blue with a written alert on it but I only happened to see it by chance.

No idea. DH's phone was in the car, mine was in the depths of my handbag in the coat cupboard in another room, so I wouldn't have heard it if it had rung.

My bloody i-phone was the absolute opposite of silent; it went off at 2.58, again at 3.04 and then again a couple of mins after that. I was travelling home on a coach at the time and could have done without it. The only consolation is that I was not the only person having multiple alerts

Probably because you were moving and picking up signals from various masts

I heard that the contract is being handled by a Japanese firm, who then sub-contract Infosys.
I don't know if this is true, but with this government's record of self-interest, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if this is another way if extracting money from the public purse.
Watch this space!

iPhone (old 8plus) and PlusNet. Made me jump out of my skin at 14.59

Applegran Mon 24-Apr-23 17:13:43

I'm on ID network - which remained silent - we heard no alert.

BlueBelle Mon 24-Apr-23 16:54:15

iPhone on EE went off on time all dickety boo

jocork Mon 24-Apr-23 16:43:48

Our phones went off pretty much simultaneously including my daughter's work phone a few seconds later, at which point she said " I forgot I had 2 phones!".

A Government spokesperson said: “This is completely untrue – there are no connections with Infosys in the running of the Emergency Alerts system.”

To misquote Mandy Rice Davies, 'He would say that wouldn't he?' grin

3.6 million given to 3 to facilitate this.

I would be more concerned about Infosys receiving £3.6 million than 3.
