Cleaning white leather sandals

Toothpaste is worth trying. Seemingly also helps with minor scratches on cars and even plastic windows of caravan/motorhomes. Do let us know if you try it.

I’ve washed most of my sandals in the machine at a low temperature at some point and none of them have been spoilt in any way. The white leather ones, though, had faint yellow marks, perhaps from sun cream, that didn’t come off in the wash. White shoe polish has helped, but I may try some of these suggestions.

I think it will be OK. The reviews are very good I will let you know if it lives up to the reviews.

I have used the Tarrago shoe cream on a brown leather sofa in the past. It had scratches on and the shoe cream covered them beautifully. It looked like a new sofa.

I use white learher shoe cream , which covers the scuffs.

I think I will give them all a go apart from the washing machine suggestion. They are leather with an imitation cork sole and suede foot bed - see picture. I think they would be ruined in the machine.

They assuredly would be ruined in the washing-machine.

The stuff we used on tennis shoes was called wet white - at least in the Navy where it was used for cleaning uniform shoes in the tropics. I doubt you can still get it, and it certainly was not recommended for leather,

Have you tried ordinary white shoe polish? This may be a stupid question, but you didn't say you had.

If you had and it didn't work, a shoe-shop or dept. in a department store that sells your sandals ought to be able to recommend a product.

Would they go in the washing machine? I have white and cream Fitflops - Leather and Canvas -that come up wonderfully as new in the washer. My machine even has a shoe setting.
Otherwise, I find Cillit Bang very good for cleaning stains. The only thing (I am informed by Himself) that removes my make- up stains from doors in house and car.

Anyway, this stuff is great for cleaning many things, including white leather. All you need to do is cut off a piece, dampen it and rub gently. Hope another GN poster can remember the name.

I use this Pavers £5 product for white leather trainers, it isn’t chalky and I find it very good.
It has a sponge attached to apply.
I think it may go thicker and chalkier when it has been opened many times and kept for maybe a year, but I don’t know that as only bought 3 months ago.

When we were young our mum used to buy us white leather T bar sandals around Easter time. She would whiten them with a liquid chalky substance and polish it off. I can’t remember what it was but it was perfect for white leather.

I've done mine with an antibacterial wet wipe then neutral wax polish.
If the wipe hadn't worked I was going to try Vanish.

I used a paste of bicarbonate of soda on my granddaughter’s white trainers and they came up a treat but they weren’t leather of course.
