Flexible dentures

At first I found them somewhat awkward to put in and take out but when in place much more comfortable than the plastic ones which I initially had after extractions.

My resident dentist retired from general practice 19 years ago.shock

Do they take lots of getting used to as opposed to plastics or chrome's?

Flexible dentures are not new, I have had partial flexibles for at least 12 years, renewed twice (one upper and one lower). The latest was last year and it did take a while for them to get it right. I asked for Valplast which I had before and was happy with. I was fobbed off with a cheaper but inferior denture. It was only when I threatened to make a formal complain that the dentist agreed to start afresh and I was given a Valplast which I am very happy with. They are not the cheapest but I feel worth the extra for the comfort and secure feeling they have.

Has anyone had these?

I need a new part upper denture and have to decide whether to have a plastic, chrome or flexible.

The drawbacks pointed out by my dentist rather put me off having a flexible one.

Sadly, flexibles are too new for my resident dentist to know much about them.
