... for a Saturday promenade?

The weather is grim and I've spent the morning faffing around but really do need to stretch my legs and get some fresh air.

I have errands to run but keep thinking they can wait until tomorrow, but then who knows what tomorrow will bring.

Decisions! smile

It has not rained today and central heating off!

livelylady Sat 05-Aug-23 21:12:09

I'm with you pinkprincess.
I put the central heating on at eight o'clock. Fed up shivering despite wearing fleece all day.
'Twas rainy overnight here but stopped about 11am then poured down for DH's dog walk at 3pm. All is calm outside now, and cosy in!

On a brighter note, the weather in Newcastle tomorrow looks at least half decent

pinkprincess Sat 05-Aug-23 20:52:22

Has been pouring down in Newcastle again .
So cold this evening I put the heating on-never had to do this in August before.

Its pouring with rain and freezing cold in our bit of Brum.

Inevitably - it's our village fete today, and it's been raining pretty much continuously all day so far. Nonetheless, it's on with the wellies and sou'wester, and off to the cake stall whilst trying to think up some witty remarks involving soggy bottoms...

Went to the gym for quiet short swim.

The poor Tesco delivery chap looked like a drowned rat although it did clear up later.

Here comes the wind we were promised!

GrannySomerset Sat 05-Aug-23 15:10:42

Weather here changing every ten minutes - bright sun then heavy shower. Having got wet once today am staying indoors and just watching the weather, which is nowhere near as bad as the forecast suggested.

TerriBull Sat 05-Aug-23 15:03:19

Not going out! Briefly dryish this morning but since then a succession of rain, rain, drizzle, drizzle. I often think August is a bit rubbish and September is a whole lot better.

Redhead56 Sat 05-Aug-23 14:57:33

It’s really cold here torrential rain not stopped I have horrid cold sores so no intention of going out. Spent my time preparing food for tomorrow and making a banoffee pie.

MrsKen33 Sat 05-Aug-23 14:48:21

It has stopped raining here but is very windy. DH just been outside to retrieve a sizeable chunk of tree that has been torn off.

Not actually raining here but I still don’t fancy going out.*
Dd2 in Oxfordshire was just on the phone saying it’s chucking it down there.
*Will probably force myself at some point, for the usual circular walk. After which I can slob on the sofa with Kindle/knitting and a clear conscience.

Well, I went - a bit of rain but ‘nothing that I regard’ as Jane Austen once put it, but thunder like a bomb going off, and it’s chucking it down now!
Feel quite smug for having forced myself out when I did.

Callistemon21 Sat 05-Aug-23 14:44:03

Spoke too soon - it's very black over Bill's mother 😲

Aveline Sat 05-Aug-23 14:39:10

I decided to go for a walk, but lo, the heavens opened so I had a great excuse to go for a zizz instead. Now I've woken up again I know I could now go out but, but, but...I don't want to. Now wracked with guilt. sad

Riverwalk Sat 05-Aug-23 14:21:24

Well, I don't have to go out, but right now no rain and the trees have stopped bending so might make a run for the border!

AreWeThereYet Sat 05-Aug-23 14:14:12

Went out for coffee this morning and it was drizzling on and off but later dried up. Just had enormous thunderclaps and lightening and now the heavens have opened (NW Surrey)

Bella23 Sat 05-Aug-23 14:13:38

We,ve had torrential rain on and off and so have been the rain coats.
We made a break for the countryside yesterday and something called the sun actually shone.
Got to our destination quickly no blocked routes full of camper vans going into the Lakes. One perk of the rain but it does stop the locals as well.
Our drive is like a lawn with moss and we can't get out to scrap it and spray.
DH,s brother has just phoned he must be stuck in with the weather as well and a four year old to entertain, rather him than me.

Urmstongran Sat 05-Aug-23 14:09:19

Nope.
It was lashing down all morning. Now stopped but chilly (trees are bending) and an open window confirms it.
I had a shower, put on clean pj’s and am having a duvet day.
Mid morning coffee was in bed reading the newspapers on line.
Himself is snoozing beside me now after we just had soup for lunch.
One of those days where, if you don’t have to go out, why bother?

Georgesgran Sat 05-Aug-23 14:03:48

Still awful here. I’m regretting telling a friend I’d be over for coffee! I’m still in my ‘robe’ but I’ll have to make the effort!

Whitewavemark2 Sat 05-Aug-23 13:53:32

Often at Goodwood this time of year, enjoying lunch etc. But weather has put us off.

aggie Sat 05-Aug-23 13:51:18

Drizzle earlier , nice now

MiniMoon Sat 05-Aug-23 13:39:34

I went out in the rain to harvest some string beans for lunch. I didn't have to go far, they are growing in pots just behind the house.
I'd love to go for a walk but since yesterday I've developed a very painful left hip, and really don't feel up to it.
