Hi GNs, would like to know if anyone has/had one of these personal pendant alarms that are set up with a Sim card so you don't need a landline. Following a bad fall, was informed i was eligible for one and that it was free. In order for this to be set up, have to have visit from social care (rec'd email from social care via one of the Occ Therapists who visited after fall. when i asked what the charge for the Sim card was, was told its Free...cannot quite believe there is no monthly charge ..does anyone have any info on this type of pendant/personal alarm? thank you!

Yes, some councils are providing them for free, yours must be one of them.

My mother's local council in Scotland charges £4.50 per week for her bracelet alarm.

Theexwife that’s good to know as was expecting there to be a Monthly charge for the service-
mrstin is your mother’s bracelet alarm set up with a SIM card or landline?

It is provided by Telecare and is linked to a smoke alarm. Not sure if via landline or SIM.

mrstin hadn’t heard of bracelet alarm linked to smoke alarm- seems like a great service- amazing technology ! Has your mom needed to utilise it?

Am surprised that no other GNs have responded…. You must all be really fit and/or with your OH, feeling safe and secure with mobility issues??

Willing to bet our council don’t provide these but glad for you that yours does Bea.
