Thank you all for your advice and suggestions. I still think I need to do some research on the subject especially in relation to possible stomach issues as suggested by some contributors.
I asked my diabetic nurse about the powder or pills and she told me to save my money just buy ordinary gelatine jelly and eat a square a day so I asked her what flavour we get on well she has a good sense of humour. Ive ordered strawberry and lemon today was a bit shocked at the price but certainly cheaper than the other things. I will keep a diary and let you know in due course of any improvements mainly in my hair.
Tried Biotin and it caused problems with my health. Great company on Amazon gave me a full refund. My hair is falling out like mad. Don’t know what to do.
Yes I’ve tried Absolute Collagen and Champo neither of which made a ha’pporth of difference. Going to try this biotin lark on the recommendations above
Think I’ll try that. Started to worry about hair loss( nearing 80 ) even though everyone tells me it’s normal for my age and my big toe nail has split !
I took Great Lakes Collagen from Amazon in the hopes of saving my hair. I was eventually diagnosed with Alopecia so nothing worked, but the collagen has given me really great skin and nails of steel.
Cambia collagen is a protein and is too big to be absorbed but the individual amino acids from digestive breakdown certainly can. Bone broth is the way to go! If you're a vegan you can't take collagen suplements or gelatin as both are derived from the rendering of animal bones and connective tissue.
I have been using marine collagen from clean supplements which have no other dodgy ingredients like fillers etc for a few months now and have definitely noticed a difference in my skin.
My sons partner however who is an orthopaedic nurse says collagen can’t be absorbed by the body…….
Vegans look away now! Collagen supplements and gelatin are derived from animals and are chemically identical. Both are broken down in the digestive system to the same amino acids. Eat jelly or, better, make your own bone broth! (You can freeze it!)
Try Biotin tablets. They're wonderful for hair and nails, and inexpensive (eg Nature's Best £6.50 for 100, but I think mine came from Asda)
I started taking Bioten tablets a few months on upon recommendation. My hair definitely feels thicker and my nails have grown more. Only yesterday I ordered more from Amazon as its Prime Day(s) so cheaper
I use www.willpowders.com/ it’s very good quality. I have been taking it for my joints, my fingers have been much better. It’s improving my hair and nails as well. It’s a tasteless powder and I add to my morning yogurt, porridge or in my coffee.
I buy marine collagen from Super drug, quite cheap. It has improved my hair and nails, but don’t expect overnight results. In about 3 to 4 months you should see a difference.
I use this which I have found has massively improved my skin and a small but noticable improvemnt in my joints. I have one scoop in my coffee first thing, it doesn't taste of anything.
I buy products from Face Theory, I look for the active ingredient in a product and then buy that, most of the ingredients in well-advertised brands are extras, fillers and binders and not necessary. If you go to incidecoder.com you can see what each ingredient does.
Have any Gransnetters tried “Absolute Collagen?” The reviews on their site are amazing for thinning hair, improvements in skin and nails and general well-being. I don’t always believe reviews where they are all 5* and would appreciate the opinions of “real” women please. Thank you.
