Oropharyngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma - any experiences?

Thank you. We have looked there and DH knows the theory. I was hoping for personal experiences.

DH is a volunteer driver for RVS and lots of his patients are undergoing treatment for throat cancer - there seems to be a lot of it about.

So sorry kittylester- My brother had cancer of the Jaw - he lived for 7 years after diagnosis. He would have lived longer, but was a high functioning alcoholic and that probably shortened his life. Sad 😢

Btw, he had his jaw removed , and replaced with a prosthesis.

P.S, - just spoke to my sister -in-law. My brother also had squamous cell carcinoma - his treatments were surgery and radiation, but no chemotherapy. Wish your brother and all the family , the very best, during this anxious time.

Sorry to hear this.
He should have be assigned a Head & Neck cancer clinical nurse specialist. Could he ask him/her if there’s any patients who would be willing to share their story/journey? Or if they know of any specialist forums or local support groups.
I attended a H&N cancer study day once and they had patients sharing their stories. The patients all knew each other and seemed to be friends and I assumed they had got to know each other through their link to the service.

A colleague of DH had this, diagnosed and treated about ten years ago. He has a PEG and is unable to talk but he does seem to have a fairly normal life. He used to go to the pub with them for their weekly meet ups and used to have a half of beer through his tube.
