How do you make hot chocolate?

Perhaps buy the blend of chocolate your favourite cafe uses?

You could try stirring shavings from your bar of chocolate into milk while heating.
I know some ‘instant’ types have milk powder added and only need water.
Then there’s old-fashioned cocoa, always made with milk.

I guess it’s a bit of trial and error

The Velvetiser looks great, but only makes 2 small cups?

I love a hot chocolate kitty .
and this one - from Ocado - is particularly good.

For one mug measure the milk in the mug, tip into a milk pan and whisk in 1-2 teaspoons of the hot choc mixture.
Take off heat just before it comes to boil.
Whisk till frothy on top. Enjoy.

I often choose hot chocolate in a cafe at this time of year but I can't get it right at home.

Does anyone have any secrets?
