Good evening , hope you are all keeping sufficiently warm ? We are snuggled up in our conservatory, radiator been on all day , table lights on- very cozy! It has been a freezing cold day , it's more like January/ February! Been wrapping presents and writing cards most of the day . Time now for an easy tea and a glass of wine. Hope everyone is managing to keep warm enough, although the conservatory is warm I have just added an extra layer of clothing!

Mine is Dreamland too. It's quite warm without switching the heat on but was lovely to have on full belt for a couple of hours after singing last night.

Thank you for the Dreamland recommendation I shall check them out.

I bought a electric heat pad last year from boots. Imagine a hot water bottle that's been under a steam roller! It's brilliant just plug it in and it will turn itself off eventually. Much handier and of course safer than an actual bottle.

I am having a cup of tea to ease the frostbite. Our choir just sang at the village light switch on.

Snap!

I have been at work today and most of the week in a very hot hotel conference room.
When we get home it’s a bit of a shocker!
I have been having a hot bath just to get properly warm.
So looking forward to tomorrow, we will light a fire and hunker down.

BlueBelle
I love the idea of cold water swimming but couldn't do it myself.

You have my admiration.

May Bee70 . You are probably babysitting now , drive safely on your way home - take care !

Commiserations Baggs. I’m tucked up under an electric throw. I looked like Nanuke of the North when I ventured into the garage to get tomorrow’s lunch out of the freezer.

As gsm says it’s freezing fog here. Currently -3.
Lovely and warm in the house though.
I went early this morning to get me feet and eyebrows done and the roads were very slippery. My beauty therapist has a lovely wooden cabin for a treatment room and it was cozy.
We went out for a few bits afterwards and a hot drink and snack lunch. Came home having bought a new sofa!!

Got to the dizzy heights of -2 early afternoon but now back down to -8. The dogs were rolling around in the frost on the lawn!

BlueBelle Sat 02-Dec-23 18:44:43

Same weather here GSM and yesterday we had a heavy shower and thunder and lightening!!! And I ve got primroses out in flower !!!
I don’t go in alone there was about 20 of us today sometimes less, sometimes more you just turn up and whose there, is there some go in every day I only manage weekends There’s one lady a year older than me
Anyway I m sat by my fire with me can of cider (sound like Pam Ayers now ‘throw another chair leg on the fire mother’ )

I’ve got to babysit the grandkids tonight. Thankfully I just checked the car because I’ve been away and it was all frozen up. I really don’t want to go out tonight.

I wondered why I was so cold this afternoon in spite of being well wrapped up and the heating switched on. Turns out there is another hitch with our boiler. It's not many weeks since our very reliable and helpful boiler man was here fixing the last thing (leak causing the pump to short) going wrong with our relatively new boiler. Sigh.

He's away for a few days but will come on Wednesday to see what's amiss. Thank goodness we have a multifuel stove and a couple of electric heaters. And that the boiler is still supplying hot water.

Hey ho and ho hum.

Blimey BlueBelle, it’s been below zero with freezing fog here near the North Norfolk coast. How do you do it???

Aldom Sat 02-Dec-23 18:22:53

BlueBelle only yesterday I wondered if you were still sea swimming. Well done you. smile

Can you cosy GNs recommend a brand of electric throw.

Everyone seems to be loving them. A Mumsnet thread of tips for keeping warm while working from home has some good ideas and throws are popular and apparently effective and cheap to run.

MrsKen33 Sat 02-Dec-23 17:49:12

Lovely and warm here. We have a blazing wood burner. We have also had an air source pump installed in our conservatory. Super warm in there now too. Used to be freezing .

Auntieflo Sat 02-Dec-23 17:33:54

🥶BlueBelle I am in awe.

Georgesgran Sat 02-Dec-23 17:30:24

I think you’re in the North East BlueBelle?
We’re hardy up here (not a choice - we have to be!).

Shelflife Sat 02-Dec-23 17:30:20

A swim in the sea this morning - blimey,!!!!! Enjoy that has fire 🔥. An electric throw Oldbat now that seems a sensible purchase. Will take a look on Amazon.

Evening. We are all nice and toasty now. We’ve come the 14 miles to our holiday lodge in the countryside. It’s very cold and icy here but so picturesque. The reason we are here this weekend is because our family are coming over tomorrow for a festive afternoon tea at the on-site coffee shop. So DH and I came and decorated the place in readiness and bought a lovely little potted tree for only £20 en route. Bargain. It looks so pretty if I say it myself. Then we went for a late lunch at a pub down the road. As we came out of there and with temperatures dropping we decided we could do with an electric blanket for our bed. DH has always been against having one but it’s arctic out here. We dashed off to a garden centre and managed to get one. It’s on the bed now and we will be nice and cosy tonight.
As I only had soft drinks at the pub I’m about to have a glass of wine a d catch up with the papers.
