What to have with Tuscan Chicken?

I am making Mary Berry's Tuscan Chicken for lunch for 8 of us tomorrow. It is made with chicken thighs, paprika, garlic, sundried tomatoes, peppers, onions, spinach, stock, white wine and cream.

I have previously served it with pasta or baked potatoes. Dh always asks for roast potatoes - with everything!!

So suggestions please for any accompaniments. Preferable not pasta.

I am making that meal mid week serving it with orzo (al dente) and lightly steamed green beans.

I'm very self indulgent and buy the twin pack of baby ones from Sainsbury's.

I love romanesco broccoli/cauliflower
I haven't seen any or a while. Yes, I agree, they are good.

I will, deedaa. I have one in a big pot outside the back door. I also have sage, parley and bay as my most used herbs at least over the winter.

Are you going to Scarborough Fair?

I asked DH if he could pick me some sage, rosemary and thyme from my herb garden the other day.

The chives are growing well too.

RosiesMaw

New potatoes - either just buttered or roughly crushed with parsley if you want to soak up juices.
I like whole green beans too or tenderstem broccoli

I would suggest this too as the dish sounds quite rich, with white wine and cream.

My DH likes new potatoes lightly oiled and oven roasted.....keeps everyone happy.

So, what have you decided on kittylester? I’m currently cooking roasted chicken breasts, chorizo, sweet red, orange, yellow peppers, cherry tomatoes, olives, red onion, garlic,, paprika, balsamic vinegar, olive oil in one dish with cheesy garlic bread. Simple and tasty. 😊

Am salivating at the thought of this dish😋

Put a bit of rosemary with the potatoes when you cook them

I've decided on small roast potatoes - almost parmentier, but not quite, honey roast carrots and tenderstem with chilli and garlic - possibly.

This thread has just reminded me that it's been ages since I made Tuscan chicken. Must make it again soon. I like it best with pasta, but some of the suggestions here sound lovely too.

A light red wine.

I had already sorted that, Maw. I had all the main components sorted - it was the veg I was struggling with. grin

I love the sound of this dish, I must try it. I am puzzled, can you get new pots at this time of year? They must be imported but from where? I certainly have not seen them but I am not very observant, loath food shopping!

i think mashed potato and green beans

Olive sourdough bread and a green salad

Hasselback new potatoes watercress/green salad?

Rosie51 Sat 30-Mar-24 14:32:40

I love romanesco broccoli/cauliflower (depending on where you buy it!) More flavour than cauliflower, sturdier than broccoli. I agree parmentier potatoes would go well, and should be 'roasty' enough to satisfy your husband.

It sounds lovely.

What about tenderstem broccoli and green beans? If you want non-bread carbs with it, you could have chips or dauphinoise potatoes.

Roasted Savoy cabbage with garlic and ginger (can also stir fry it if preferred).

We are having Spanish chicken (spatchcock)
with spicy wedges and salad,
accompanied by olives and sun dried tomatoes and tear and share bread.
