How would you address this?

Very early one morning I observed a man walking his dog. As they approached our driveway - we have no gates - the dog (a bitch) came a few feet onto the drive and peed. He made no attempt to entice her off the driveway and back onto the path and we were left with a puddle of dog pee that would no doubt attract other dogs to do the same.
I wasn't dressed at the time so had no intention of confronting him there and then. But I am not sure how to address this; the dog didn't defacate, just peed, but it was the nonchalant attitude of the owner that irks me.

A friend of mine, sat on a beach having a picnic with her granddaughter one sunny spring morning. A large dog, off lead, ran over to them, cocked his leg and peed on my friends back. Idiot owner ran up and laughed and said it was because she and her granddaughter were on its territory.
It happened to be a "no dogs" area of the beach. That's why they chose it.
Friends response was, apparently, unprintable.

Oh, I wondered what an ‘influenced’ garden was.

Being led astray by other naughty gardens….

Or being well behaved, modelled on ‘good’ gardens…

😂😂😂

It's one of those gardens that is so perfect it's become an influencer

Not!

My dog once cocked it's leg and peed down a friend's leg as we stood chatting, I was mortified. She was very nice about it and said perhaps it was because he could smell her dog.

I used to see a neighbour walk his dog down the road, sniffing and peeing in everyone's gardens as he went

I assume it was the dog ‘sniffing and peeing’ Calli and not the neighbour.
🤣

Fiorentina exactly that happened to me I m sitting on the sand watching the waves and this beast came up behind me and cocked its leg on my back another time we d gone for a swim and a dog with the owners miles off cocked its leg on my friend expensive swim coat, owners so far ahead they didn’t even hear our shouts.
I know dogs have ‘to go’ but I d love to see on the owners shoes and see how they like it !

BlueBelle Fri 12-Apr-24 11:42:11

My cat once climbed into my friend's handbag and did a wee. I'd mix up some hot, hot, chillies with warm water, and pour it over the end of your driveway, so the dog won't be able to have a good sniff around before piddling.

Baggs Fri 12-Apr-24 15:23:22

Rabbits also eat tneir own poo to get more nutrients out of what goes through them too fast. You can tell whether this has happened if you look at rabbit poo. The re-eaten stuff is paler.

Yesterday my OH was under his car tinkering with something when a fox walked up and casually peed on his tools 😂

MrB had a mouse pee on his iPad once. We caught the blighter the next night 😂

That’s appalling- didn’t it know that’s what mouse mats are for? 🐭

DD's cat once did a poo in my slipper. In the middle of the night I needed a wee and put my feet into my slippers 😩

MissAdventure Fri 12-Apr-24 16:00:47

Scooby dooby doo,
Did a poo,
Inside Shaggy's slipper.

Shaggy put it on,
What a pong!
It made him shake and shiver...

Our front gardens are influenced and I used to see a neighbour walk his dog down the road, sniffing and peeing in everyone's gardens as he went.
Another time I saw a young girl bring her dog on to our front lawn to have a sniffie and a wee, then hunched over ready to poo. At that point I tapped the window and the girl looked up, startled and made off with the dog.

We get fox poo on the lawn, it stinks.

Good grief!

I'm astonished that anyone can convince themselves that it's ok to encroach on someone else's property for their dog to use as a toilet. Who are these people?!

I bet you made her jump when you tapped on the window grin

My friend, many years ago, had a neighbour who would lift his dog onto neighbour's rock garden so it could have a good clear out.
Friend, a big burly builder, was too afraid to say anything.

Desdemona Fri 12-Apr-24 16:41:12

I would have gone out, there and then in a state of undress and had an altercation with the owner. The sight of me in my birthday suit first thing of a morning would deter any dog!

Astitchintime Fri 12-Apr-24 16:44:04

I admit, it was only a pee and easy to wash down, which I did as rain wasn't forecast that morning but more the fact that the bloke with the dog blatantly allowed it to come onto the drive - and gates are not an option unfortunately.
My 19ry old grandson might object to my request for him to pee in the blokes drive don't you think?? grin

I don't even know who she was. Not a neighbour's child. She must have wandered up here or been a visitor.

We have a youngish couple go past our house, with three or four spaniel type dogs, always off the lead.

But my word, how well trained they are, just trotting along at their owners side.

Bet they are not allowed to go down other drives.

Well trained dogs are a wonderful sight. We used to have an elderly man in the village who kept Springer Spaniels all his life. In later years he used to ride a bike with 5 spaniels beside him up quiet country lanes. All off lead and they did not move a muscle until he told them to. They watched and listened to him all the time. When he got to some heathland he told them they could run off and they did but came back as soon as he called them. Marvellous.

grandtanteJE65 Fri 12-Apr-24 17:10:00

Unless the bitch was in season the fact that she weed there once is not all that likely to attract other dogs.

Depending on the surface of your drive, the puddle will drain quickly or less quickly.

No point in complaining - you will only offend the dog's owner.

Probably, the man walking the dog was thinking of something else at the time, and didn't realise the dog had squatted to wee until too late.

A woman (won’t call her a lady) used to let her dog do giant poos in our garden. Early one morning dh was watching out for her, flung open the bedroom window and remonstrated with her. The response was that our front garden was open plan! Dh replied if she let her dog do it again he would shoot it. Many years ago and very un pc but she never came back.

If you can afford it, install a gate. Most people are polite and would not allow pet to do that . But unfortunately some do not have manners or realise thrre are invisible boundaries you do not cross. Regards.
