Jaffa Cakes - anyone noticed how very small they now are?

Jaffa cakes are now ridiculously small. You practically need a microscope to see themšŸ˜‚ I know things have shrunk but these must be half size. No good at half time. Like giving a donkey an oat as mum used to say.

Toblerones are the worst offenders. The gap between the triangles is huge now.

Also, I had a segment of Terry's Orange the other day, and noticed that they have shaved the segments under the rim, so the orange is the same circumference but there is a fatter bit at the top of each segment and the rest is thinner than before. Swizz.

They are small. I much prefer a Jaffa Cake gateau (Asda or Morrisons) every so often. I've just bought a friend some Jaffa Cake gin! (Amazon)

Oh how very dare you…….drool!

Aldi’s Jaffa Cakes are made by same producer!

Greyduster Mon 10-Jun-24 10:29:34

I also found genuine Jaffa cakes dry and disappointing. Aldi’s are much better. And what the heck has happened to Mars Bars? A couple of bites and they’re gone!

Bought them.......tried them.......so disappointing and. nothing like I remember them to be; the whole thing was smaller, and the chocolate very much thinner. Won't be buying them again.

I’ve not bought either for a while (been cutting back on ā€œgoodiesā€) but both the Lidl and the M&S versions of Jaffa cakes are nicer, imo, than the real thing.

I prefer the M&S ones.

Good job they are small. I can go through a packet in one go watching tv in the evening 😁

Everything is going the same way, Amount down and price up at the same time! I dont often go out for coffee or anything these days but a decent coffee with that little - think it was biscotti biscuit with it, was a treat to enjoy, Now the biscuit has shrunk to about 1/4 of its old size. Not worth the bother now.

Don't know about the M&S but totally agree about the Lidl version. Aldis are nice too.

Have one of them and then a genuine Jaffa Cake and by heck what a difference. Genuine JC are dry!

Yesterday I met my friend for a lunch at a very well like large pub chain ( not Wetherspoons) We have often eaten there and as a vegetarian I’ve always enjoyed a lovely vegetable curry. It’s decent plateful with naan bread, poppadoms, and mango chutney accompanying it …..yesterday I was looking forward to my usual curry but it had changed.
There was a vegetable curry on the menu so I headed for that it was very nice but what arrived on my plate was a small mound of rice and a couple of ladles of curry, no accompaniments whatsoever. My friend had a steak and was eating about three times as long as me. It really was a meal that would’ve suited her 10-year-old
When I got the bill it had actually gone up by nearly £2
I won’t bother again we ll go and have a proper curry at the Indian I don’t think it would cost any more

ā€˜A finger of fudge is just enough
To give your kids a treatā€¦šŸŽ¼ā€™

I never liked it much, but nowadays a finger wouldn’t ā€˜be enough’, you’d need all five fingers to get a taste!

It’s not just Jaffa cakes (which I don’t buy ) that have shrunk but almost every other treat like double deckers which are half the size they used to be. I don’t have them often and in a way it’s probably helpful given my ability to put a pound just by looking at something sweet, but it is annoying because while the sweeties shrink the prices leap.

Same with Wagon Wheels…should be renamed stabiliser wheels.

tanith Mon 03-Jun-24 11:54:11

How do they get the chocolate that thin? Used be much thicker.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 03-Jun-24 11:32:33

They could disappear entirely as far as I’m concernedšŸ˜„

ElaineI Mon 03-Jun-24 11:16:20

Everything has shrunk not just Jaffa cakes. Shrunk and cost more sadly.
