Recommendations for car -easier to get in and out,

I was about to recommend a Vauxhall Mokka, but it’s a small SUV.

go around some used car lots, and try getting in and out of different models.
if you go to a main dealer, you will only have one make to try.
try a large auction type place, they often have almost new cars, for up to date comparisons.
some older people find a higher seat and sill easier to get into, rather than having to twist and bend to slither into sportier types.

I have a Mazda 3, which I love - it’s been a bugger during the last year plus of hip arthritis, but I’m hoping the new hip replacement will mean I can keep it for a few more years.

But… a few weeks back I borrowed a friends’ Mini Countryman, and it was lovely. Highish and incredibly adjustable seats, loads of space, dead easy and comfortable to drive, nippy and easy to manoeuvre. I think it’d be worth a look at one of those, or a Clubman (which have a lowered boot and double back doors, so very easy to get things in and out of the boot).

It was so easy to get in and out of that I used it for the trip home after the hip replacement surgery.

The work cars, here, are very easier to get in and out, but small suv. Volvo XC60 and Volvo XC90 - lovely space, long leg space.

We love Small Volvo suv.

My friend has bought a Vauxhall Puma as her husband has major mobility problems and was having difficulty getting into their Astra. It is a automatic and a hybrid and she is extremely pleased with it. Good luck in finding the perfect car for you.

The Mini Countryman is worth a look.
Although you don’t want an SUV (any reason?) the Toyota hybrid looks good.
A cheaper option is an MG - made in China (unfortunately) but packed with extras to attract UK buyers.

We have a Toyota CHR. It is very comfortable, not too big and does many miles to the gallon. It is also quite stylish looking.

I have a Skoda Citigo and getting in and out is hell because there is a high step on it. I have to sit in the car and lift each leg in. I have bilateral TKRs and my left ankle has been pinned and plated. It is a reverse procedure of getting out. No point in changing because my driving days are numbered.
