I have found Ecco and Peter Rieker very comfortable.

Here’s a recent review from the Independent, which mentions some of the brands people have recommended. New Balance trainers seem to come out very well.

Tik tok shop sell mega comfortable slip on trainers, I’ve just received 2 pairs for £10 each and they are as comfortable as my sketchers, very light

Pain in your sole is Plantar Fascitis - well, Ithink it is - not being a doctor, but knowing full well what you are describing.
I have very horrible feet and find that Fit Flop have some ( very expensive) shoes that are the most comfortable I can find. And if your feet are wide or even if not, DB Wider Fit shoes have a range of sandals and other shoes - not as pricey as Fit Flop and I've just received their latest catalogue which has quite a lot of reduced prices. They have their own special way of measuring your feet too.

Sketchers are like slippers. They are comfy but don't offer my feet any support. I only buy lace-ups now as I need the support for my foot. No particular brand but if they aren't cushioned I just buy foam in-soles. No more foot pain!

It depends which sort of Skechers you buy. I've got some of the 'Arch Support' range which are brilliant!

I have two pairs of Sketcher but do not find them very comfortable. My day to day shoes are my Adidas trainers, They are so comfortable and retain their shape and springiness for years. They are lightweight and so easy to clean. I have navy with white soles and also taupe which I wear with everything. I have arthritis in my feet and ankles, hammer toes plus toes deformed from pointed shoes in the sixties! I need all the comfort I can get.

I have several pairs of Skechers - now that I don’t have to dress up for work they’re ideal for me. They’re not cheap, so I look out for new or hardly worn ones on Vinted. I also like Hotter shoes, but they’re not as wide nor as fashionable.

A few years ago when they were first on trend I bought a pair of crocs. I bought mine in bright yellow. They are the ugliest thing ever but boy do you feel as if you’re walking on air when you wear them.

I would never wear them out but for around the house and garden they are a God send. So soft and spongy on the balls of the feet.

They’ve had a bit of a comeback recently among the youngsters lately and while I was in hospital a few weeks ago most of the nurses were wearing them.

I wouldn’t be without mine.

Hotter have some very good styles and wider fitting shoes. My Mum, who has bunions, finds them the most comfortable. My sister has inherited the problem and was told by a podiatrist that Hotter was the best brand for this.

I too love Skechers! I have two pairs of their "slip-ins" and wonder how I ever managed before - no more bending down to get them on or tie laces. One of them is from a collaboration they did with Snoop Dogg! Well, I am only 69.....grin

Love my Skechers. Really comfortable

Hi MadWoman 11,
My mum had burning sensation on her feet and I believe she was put on meds by GP. Might be worth a check.
Hope they are less painful soon x

I have tried loads over the years. I have wide feet with various problems. I buy COSY FEET online. They have different styles for different issues. They usually have a description telling you which ailments they suit best. Customer service is good. If you don't want to buy online some care shops for mobility scooters etc stock them. They are not the cheapest but regularly have sales.

Iam64 how did you find the fit of Hoka? I’ve looked at their website and attempted their “take a photo of your foot” sizing but it didn’t work on my iPad.

NotSpaghetti Fri 26-Jul-24 11:38:45

Primrose53 - I've never looked at their trainers as I only use those in the gym. I found their sandals rather "formal" as I don't wear mules and the rest are heeled/platforms. There are some ok "summer wedding" type wedges.

POBCOB Fri 26-Jul-24 11:37:52

Try Fitville especially made for problem feet and have very wide fittings if needed.

Nanaeloc Fri 26-Jul-24 11:27:59

Another vote for Fitflop from me - I have sandals, trainers and boots from this company. They are so comfy and supportive. Endorsed by my physiotherapist too!

Riekers Anti Stress, wide toe box and cushioned sole, like walking on rubber matting, gorgeous !

Dempie55 Fri 26-Jul-24 11:27:13

Those who say Sketchers don’t give support- they have a style called Arch Fit which are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn. Also, I usually buy the men’s version- they tend to be slightly wider and cheaper in the small sizes. They are often available on Amazon for around £30.

Thank you NoSpaghetti

Sketchers for my bunions and hammer toes. I have four pairs and their slip ins are a game-changer

Cazza1953 Fri 26-Jul-24 11:20:50

I have arthritis in my feet and a nurse advised me to wear Skechers. I now have several pairs and they are so comfortable.

RosesAreRed21 Fri 26-Jul-24 11:20:15

Shout out for sketchers I won’t buy anything else for comfort and wear

NanKate Fri 26-Jul-24 07:15:57

Just bought a pair of Sketchers slip ons very comfy 👍

Primrose53 Thu 25-Jul-24 22:02:47

Just skimmed through and the loafers, trainers and sandals don’t look too formal.
