Help when oldie

A mobile phone on its own should be okay but I did not expect a new landline to be possibly incompatible.

Do you need a landline for these? Fil investigating getting one but only has a mobile phone.

I have just bought a new landline with 2 extra handsets and this one states it is not compatible with some personal alarms. I do not have an alarm yet but I really should.

My friend has worn an alarm. either as a pendant or round her wrist for years now. She started when her husband became bedridden and carried on with it after he died because she now lives alone. Recently she went to bed with the wrist alarm on, rolled over on it while she was asleep, and set it off. She vaguely heard her phone ringing but thought it was a scam call, because who would ring in the middle of the night? She was very surprised to be woken up by strange men in her room, wanting to know if she was all right! Still, it's nice to know that they do come out if they think something's wrong.

A friend bought a smart watch for her mum but realised it needed charging every day which didn’t work as her mum has dementia, so she had to get something different.
Best ask how long things it last befire needing re charging.

I'm in the middle of researching this, with the help of my son. Not a pendant though, I prefer a watch or even a little phone. I hope you find one that suits you.

There are lots of security things out there, one will suit your needs as not everyone wants to wear a pendant.

Age UK is definitely the answer to your problem. Look them up locally. They will all have a help and advice centre who will help you

Hi Cath, not sure where you live but Social Services will help you if you’re over a certain age and have a disability but also if you live alone- They can offer care alarm pendants via your phone- hope this is helpful 🤞🏻

Yes - I’d consult the ‘experts’ first. It’s the time and effectiveness of the response that’s paramount.

I think I paid @£20 a month for my Dad’s - probably more now, but worth it for peace of mind.
