Hotels in the Midlands

DH and I usually go away for a few days in January but one of our favourite hotels (The Midland in Morecambe) has gone right off and the other (The Brudenell in Aldeburgh) is a very long way if the weather is bad.

Looking to the future, we'd like some ideas of nice hotels more accessible from North Leicestershire. Near water would be good and a nice restaurant is a must.

Can anyone give us some suggestions please?

Oh. I thought it had reopened. What a shame. I went once in the 60s for a works dinner and dance but would love to have had a night there. Hey ho.
