Have any GN's used these? I rather like the idea of them. No more huge plastic bottles to get rid of. I would value your opinion of them. Thank you.

DD recommended Simple Sheets from Musthaveideas on account of them being eco friendly & plastic free I duly purchased a pack - 100 for £10. Can’t say I am convinced. A couple of times they have gluped on the washing and I just don’t feel they’re doing the job. I’ve gone back to my old faithful Bold powder, which Ive used for years. Much happier now and I love the scent.

Reassuring that general consensus of those who use sheets is that they like them.

I used to make my own detergent ("gloop") with grated soap and stuff. But these days I "make life easy for myself" and so I've been buying these sheets and I stick 2 sheets at a time in my washing machine.

Reason for two being I've still not got my sense of smell back from losing it in Covid - grr! With various minor ailments to get rid of it might be a while before I'm able to focus on lower priority ones like getting my sense of smell back again - as I'm having to deal with the ones that cause me discomfort or other noticeable problems first before I can work on getting rid of the lower level ones like this. Too confusing to have to work on getting rid of 11 body problems at once....

With still - temporarily - missing my sense of smell = I have no way of telling whether my laundry smells fresh or no and hence chucking in a 2nd sheet as well as a precautionary measure to ensure it does.

Having these recommended I have been using them in my machine since April '23 mostly for my colours (no fading smile) and use just one sheet occasionaly two if the load is more heavily worn. Most loads done at 30c with good results. (I had found pods to not fully disolve at 30c)
No plastic and a versatile subscription service makes them even better I think.

Tried them but soon reverted to my longstanding fave ... Aldi's big box powder, non bio .
Used this for years and years now.
Still really happy with it.
Doesn't break the bank , don't need much. I have lovely, clean , fresh smelling laundry ( youngest daughter says the smell reminds her of home now ) and I recycle the empty box.
Love it .

I use Dr Beckman and find them very good.

I've been using Dr Beckmann sheets in the washing machine for a year now and find them excellent. Always use the whole sheet. They smell good too but not too strong.

I like them but at least in the US, they are more expensive.

I do not understand why in UK and Ireland have bio and non bio washing detergents while other countries don't.

I tried dr beckam ones and they are not eco friendly as although no plastic used if you read the label the are harmful to animal and aquatic life. I stopped using them and now use smol products which come in cardboard containers and in tablet form which you top up with water.

Have you considered laundry nuts or a laundry egg? No nasty chemicals and very eco friendly

ninamoore Sun 05-Jan-25 18:13:34

I use Dr Beckams they are great

Why not just use soap powder? In cardboard, easy to recycle.

And cheaper too, I imagine.

My washing engineer said soap powder is the best thing to use as it cleans the washing machine, gel/ pods just rot the drum. Thing is I’ve 4 boxes of pods to get through but do alternate with bio powder.

I use the sheets on frequent trips away in our touring caravan, they are much easier to pack, lighter and no risks of spillage. I use them in different machines on caravan sites in UK and abroad, and use them for handwashing and have never had a problem.

Never used laundry sheets, never will,I use laundry pods from smol, they do 3 sorts bio,non bio and fragrance free, they are eco friendly, and if you set up a subscription they are delivered through the letterbox every month, smol also do fabric conditioner, stain remover, and other cleaning products

Sarnia, my Bosch machine is supposed to use liquids, too - it has a ‘clever’ auto-dosing system, but I have used just powder in the drum, no conditioner either - no plastic! - for some years now.
Laundry comes out fine.

Chocolatelovinggran Sun 05-Jan-25 12:35:14

I use them and like them. I would add that in my hard water area I need two sheets each time.
However, my DIL felt they weren't adequate for her laundry, which includes items stained with little GC's eczema cream.

I use sheets from a company called The Lab Co which are excellent and I get mail order. I discovered them when I was sent a free sample with a clothes order - it might have been from Pure of Harrogate. Anyway I was so impressed I’ve used them ever since and find my machine no longer gets a sour smell.

I have been using Dr Beckmann bio Magic Leaves and have been very happy with the results. Also, on the plus side, they are easy and lightweight to carry - especially good if you walk to the supermarket.
However, since getting a new washing machine I have reverted to using liquid as I began to worry that on a 30° wash they wouldn't dissolve completely and end a gloopy mess inside the machine.

I use them all the time, mostly 30 degree washes, and they're fine. Never found any mess or gloop.

I have a Bosch washing machine that only uses liquids.

I have a newish Bosch and use powder. I checked on line and it says all Bosch machines can use powder but they recommend liquid! I think you have to do something to modify the drawer that you put liquid into. I wouldn’t buy a machine that didn’t use powder. I don’t see a problem as long as you run a very hot cleaning cycle occasionally.

I think pods and liquid is just a way of getting consumers to part with more cash for a basic item.

icanhandthemback Sun 05-Jan-25 11:56:17

I use them without problems.

missdeke Sun 05-Jan-25 11:51:56

Bought some Dr Beckmann's as they work out the same price as my usual liquid. I used them yesterday and they were great, everything lovely and clean and fresh smelling.

DollyD Sun 05-Jan-25 11:49:18

Another one using Dr Beckmann’s Magic Leaves and find they are very good at 30 degrees, much better than the Bold pods I was using before and cheaper.

wibblywobblywobblebottom Sun 05-Jan-25 11:40:43

Complete waste of time and money.

GreyhairedWarrior Sun 05-Jan-25 11:39:27

I use them all the time - get them delivered so no carrying. They’re fine in a machine but I imagine wouldn’t work well for hand washing. I’ve also taken to using Bounce sheets in the dryer to cut back on plastic. (No dryer hate please -I live in a very cold US state and there is no way clothes would dry outside for at least half the year).

surfingsal Sun 05-Jan-25 11:38:50

I forgot to say in my post that another reason I like them and I quote form their site ...
These lightweight laundry sheets use 80% less plastic, and as they are compact and concentrated, they use less packaging and less space. This means less environmental impact from transportation – indeed, the product claims to be carbon-neutral.

Bromley Sun 05-Jan-25 11:31:14

I’ve found the Eco sheets excellent. I usually use one, but two for gardening trousers etc.
I also us the Eco dish washer tablets and am very pleased with the results.
