easy to use mobile phone

I don't like smart phones so bought an Alcatel flip phone from Amazon for £30ish. It has a charging cradle which is where it mostly lives.

Another vote for flip phones. My husband has a flip phone, Safety I suppose, very rarely used. Reasonably priced, small, not fiddly.

We've land lines for home and business, see no reason to change.

I have a doro flip 'phone which does all I need and is easy to use as I also don't do technology. Touch screens just don't work for me to the extent that I can't always answer Mr. S's. mobile .

I too have Doro flip on a monthly SIM contract with O2.

I like the ringtone I chose.
I don’t like that it’s rubbish at predictive text. Even when it suggests you ‘add word’ it does bluddy save it for future use so bluddy irritating!

If you are looking at mobile phones...make sure you go for a SIM FREE model, that way you can choose any provider.

My mother-in-law has had a Doro for about 3 years and was her first smartphone. It's the Doro 8035 - and was less than £100. I guess it may have been superceded by now though. She manages it OK - doesn't use all the features though.

It is the touch version but has basic control buttons too.
BTW my mother-in-law is 100.

Mine is over 10 years old which is maybe why it doesn't have predicted text FGT.

I wish I didn't have predictive text, when texting an estate agent to view a house I sent a text asking for the post code in order to find the property, so texted 'can I have post code for Satan', obvs it should have read satnav, but had sent the blooming thing already so was about to apologise when the estate agent just pinged over the post code.
I believe I can remove predictive text but have never got round to it.

Mine is the Doro 6888 flip.
Not a smartphone - no apps etc.
Drives me nuts though about the predictive texting. Cost me £89.
When it irritates me enough I’ll buy something else.
Another Nokia perhaps.

I'll be following this with interest - as I'm not techno-minded either and I've had several goes in a row at finding a (very simple) replacement for my last basic mobile phone.

I am worried at the thought of "Them" planning to come along and remove our old landlines soon and all the:
1. How do I use any replacement line they do from my secondary phone in my sitting room. 99% certain = they don't give a monkeys if they knock that phone out of action (ie because it can't be connected to a computer there).

2. How do I use a phone if there is a powercut and "that darn new type of phoneline" will refuse to work even for that.

I also need something very very basic indeed to carry around with me and I don't see why I shouldnt expect to find it - as I had two very basic mobile phones in a row when that first started up. All I really want to do with a basic mobile is make and receive calls and that's that - I don't need stuff like Internet access from it, camera, etc, etc.

Just get a charging stick incase of power cuts. It is small you charge it until you need it

Samsung older models are simple and less complex and lower in price than the newer models.

They also have fairly decent cameras as well.

Galaxy A 34 5 G (an older model I once used) served me well at the time.

We have a landline in our flat and both of us have new model mobiles. My husband prefers the I-phone Apple for his professional use and I use Samsung - new model double fold.

Check on Amazon and direct via Samsung. Can pay monthly as well ..

Keep your landline. It can be utilised for one´s T.V. Films such as Neflex or Amazon or other access of films.

My husband is the same . He uses a Alcatel Big button phone from Argos £50. Does most things but I must admit I find it much harder to navigate than my iPhone !!

Just curious: a number of people here are saying they "don't do technology". So how are they posting on here?

If you have a Tesco store near you that does phones they are very helpful. We took the hones they advised with the contract that suited us. We just drop in and ask them when we have a difficulty with our phones and they help us sort it out. There is always parking and you can sort out food shopping at the same time. This means the phone is not a problem.

we moved into a house without any BT telephone line. We had to either not use a phone or use a mobile or (what we did) was have digital voice. the latter is connected to the internet. I thought by bringing our old telephone number my husband would remember the number but he has not. Many people will not use the telephone number as they think it is a town in Devon (where we used to live) and not where we live now (Wiltshire). Due to the lack of use and all of the confusion to others, I've decided to ditch the digital voice. It worked well when we used it .

I do technology but my husband doesn't . I admit I rarely use my mobile - just to track the bus - but hubbie has enough trouble using the TV handset

I don`t like mobile phones! but they seem to be a necessity of present daylife... so I have one,, but mostly use it just for Whats App.. so can these phones mentioned above which would just suit me,, can you have Whats App on them,? does anyone know?
