I thought this looked lovely for a Spring coat but my very conservative son told me not to be ridiculous. I'm still tempted. Would you wear something so loud?

Never mind it could have been worse…
‘Ah here comes a lady with a very ugly smile and a very lovely coat’😲

I like it, but I’m not sure I could carry it off. I do have some colourful coats and jackets though. I wore what I thought was a rather nice Boden one in Berlin. As we were walking through a crowded square we spotted an “interesting” American lady heading our way, weaving and waving and hollering out to anyone who took her fancy. As she got near to us she stopped and pointed and shouted “Ah, here comes a lady with a very lovely smile….and a very ugly coat.” grin

OMG it’s gorgeous
Yes, yes, yes

Beautiful coat, but I am too short to wear something with such a big pattern. I love the bright colours; why are coats so dull? I was out to lunch last week and watched people walking past the restaurant windows, they were nearly all wearing black ( and not even a nice crisp black) long padded coats, all so very dull. Why not a nice bright red, or purple?

I have a bright red coat! Bought it about 14 months ago from M&S and I always get lovely comments when I wear it. Go bright - it's a cheer-up on the cold grim days!

I'd need to be at least 6' tall before considering, otherwise, I'd feel like a clown in a blanket.

I would be very unlikely to see anyone wearing a coat like that in my neck of the woods maddyone. I understand people liking colour, but the number who like that coat has astonished me.

Astonished me too😂
Somebody tall -ish, slim and stunning may get away with it possibly.
Depends where you wear it as well, may only get a few glances in London but stop traffic in other places😲

I never wear anything with orange in it. I don't like anything orange, unless it's natural, fruit, flowers etc. I especially don't like it when it's next to yellows, reds and pinks. If they were in shades of blue I'd probably wear it as long as it didn't weigh to much.

Aren't I picky shock.

wibblywobblywobblebottom Wed 12-Feb-25 14:30:08

Sorry I can't hear you.

Helenlouise3 Wed 12-Feb-25 14:25:15

I'm only 5ft so the pattern would overwhelm me. If you can carry it then why not. They're gorgeous colours. I can imagine a tall person wearing it with some chunky ankle boots

Note to Pascal30, I've just read my
stupid outpourings regarding the
" horribly thing coat" my only excuse was that I was flustered by an argument with horribly thing husband. 😁

I thought it was funny Ilovedogs.. didn't agree with you about the coat though.. hope all's well now.

Barbarasmum Wed 12-Feb-25 14:20:32

No. It's the sort of coat (whoever wears it) that brings to mind someone who has multiple piercings and tatts plus multi coloured hair.

janeainsworth Wed 12-Feb-25 14:18:09

Where did you get it kircubbin2000?
She says she got it in a small boutique in Madrid 🤔

Sorry but I wouldn’t wear it either.

Jaxjacky Wed 12-Feb-25 14:16:40

OldEnough2 if you read the thread the OP has already bought it

OldEnough2noBetter Wed 12-Feb-25 14:06:41

You like it? GET IT! Wear it! He’s young and easily embarrassed; you’re beyond that twaddle. Tell him you’re being your Authentic Self. It’s not that “big yikes” (massively embarrassing) He’s being “boujee” (superior). 😆😆 Gen Z Speak

pinkpeony Wed 12-Feb-25 14:05:38

I love it and would definitely wear it. It's a very, very, long way to Whitstable though. What make is it? maybe I could find it somewhere nearer.

grannybuy Wed 12-Feb-25 14:05:27

I do like colour, but, as I said, not those all together. I don’t actually think it looks all that comfortable to wear. It strikes me as being a bit cumbersome.

hamster58 Wed 12-Feb-25 14:03:47

I love it! If now you have it you do too, then wear it and enjoy

TwiceAsNice Wed 12-Feb-25 14:01:56

Buy it if you love it. I think it looks great! What’s it for to do with your son what you wear? He sounds as if his outlook is older than you ! Wear whatever your like whatever your age I say!

grannybuy Wed 12-Feb-25 13:57:16

No. I don’t like all those colours together.

maddyone

No I wouldn’t wear it. I think it’s horrid.

Hear, hear maddyone, it's very showy -offy & look at me! Yet I do know a few people who would wear it & they too are very showy offy & at me!
Pretentious is the word for it, horribly thing. 🥳

Horribly thing.. sounds very Donald Trump

Lupatria Wed 12-Feb-25 13:37:03

yes i'd wear it - often. i love the colours. too many times the only offering is black, navy or brown.
i feel that we need to wear colour in the winter to cheer us up.
ignore your son and wear the coat with pride.

freyja Wed 12-Feb-25 13:25:17

I would wear it as it's beautiful. I wear a coat that could be considered outrages, but get lots of lovely comments from all sorts of age groups so I keep wearing it.

Only listen to your heart, not other people especially your son. I bet he would not like it if you commented on his conservative (boring) clothes.
Wear what pleases you, because you are the only one that matters.

DamaskRose Wed 12-Feb-25 13:22:10

I’ve it but, like others, I’m too short …

I suspect that some of you here would think my new glasses are "horrid".!
I don't care. They cheer me up

ooh, are they like Dame Edna's?
