I thought this looked lovely for a Spring coat but my very conservative son told me not to be ridiculous. I'm still tempted. Would you wear something so loud?

Ziplok Tue 11-Feb-25 12:37:08

It’s not for me, as the patterned squares are quite large and the coat looks long, so it would swamp me.

If you like it, though, and can carry such a bold coat, then go for it. It certainly looks cheerful and definitely a change from the usual black, grey and dark browns.

I would if you bought it for me 😂
I’d wear the blue shoes.

Ziplok Tue 11-Feb-25 12:38:51

Meant to add, don’t listen to your son on this, he’s not the one who will be wearing it. 😅

If I were about a foot taller than I am, then yes.

I love the bright colours, nice and cheerful on a grey day.

eddiecat78 Tue 11-Feb-25 12:46:37

Yes I would, it's fabulous.
Just because we're old doesn't mean we have to disappear!

JudyBloom Tue 11-Feb-25 12:47:08

I like the colours and I may have worn something like that when I was younger but I just don't think it would suit me now.

Barleyfields Tue 11-Feb-25 12:49:07

No.

If you buy it he might refuse to be seen with you when you’re wearing it! 😄

rafichagran Tue 11-Feb-25 12:59:44

Buy it, I would nor listen to your son.
I like it, but like a poster said upthread, I personally think you need to be tall to wear it, and make sure it does not swamp you.
Lovely coat though.

not in this life

pascal30 Tue 11-Feb-25 13:11:32

Yes definitely...it's gorgeous.. get out there and stun them...

HousePlantQueen Tue 11-Feb-25 13:16:37

Beautiful coat, but I am too short to wear something with such a big pattern. I love the bright colours; why are coats so dull? I was out to lunch last week and watched people walking past the restaurant windows, they were nearly all wearing black ( and not even a nice crisp black) long padded coats, all so very dull. Why not a nice bright red, or purple?

kircubbin2000 Tue 11-Feb-25 13:16:38

I got it. He made me change into the black one to go out!

maddyone Tue 11-Feb-25 13:24:04

No I wouldn’t wear it. I think it’s horrid.

AGAA4 Tue 11-Feb-25 13:24:06

It wouldn't suit me but I'm sure you look good in it.

Ziplok Tue 11-Feb-25 13:24:37

Well done, you, kirkubbin2000. Now wear it whenever you want and where you want - don’t be dictated by anyone as to when you wear it, and that includes your son 😊

Chocolatelovinggran Tue 11-Feb-25 13:26:01

Good move - kircubbin!
I have a not too dissimilar jacket from Joe Brown which I love. I am happy whenever I wear it, and it has been admired often.
I have a plain navy coat that is good, but nowhere near so much fun.

Or any other😂 it’s like a circus clowns coat.

CountessFosco Tue 11-Feb-25 13:26:34

To me it looks a little like a blanket

keepingquiet Tue 11-Feb-25 13:27:37

I would if it were more fitted- the fashion is for them to look big I think but I'd end up looking like a roll end of carpet!

HousePlantQueen Tue 11-Feb-25 13:28:17

Well done Kirkcubbin!

Truffle43 Tue 11-Feb-25 13:29:30

If you love it wear it . I love bright colours I’m too short to carry that gorgeous coat off but if you can go for it. When people say things to me I respond by saying I will be a long time dead and can’t wear it then. This usually stops them talking.

Cossy Tue 11-Feb-25 13:29:48

Yes and I love it! But it and damn anyone else’s opinion

GrannyGravy13 Tue 11-Feb-25 13:36:39

I think it’s fabulous, but would need it in petite.
