I thought this looked lovely for a Spring coat but my very conservative son told me not to be ridiculous. I'm still tempted. Would you wear something so loud?

maddyone Wed 12-Feb-25 12:51:39

Despite my thinking the coat is horrible, and absolutely never seeing anyone wearing anything remotely like it, I do think people should wear whatever they want to. So eddiecat if I disliked your glasses and you were wearing them and I met you, I wouldn’t be rude enough to comment on them, and if asked I’d say they were nice because sometimes a white lie is preferable to the truth.
However this is an open forum and posters views were asked for, and so I gave my honest opinion. This is a place when we can give an honest opinion without causing upset.

I suspect that some of you here would think my new glasses are "horrid".!
I don't care. They cheer me up

NotSpaghetti Wed 12-Feb-25 11:52:08

Gwyllt I do hope you've taken your glorious coat out!

Leave "Mr Grumpy" behind if he won't be seen with you!

Barleyfields Wed 12-Feb-25 11:46:52

It certainly did the woman photographed in it no favours.

Ilovedogs22 Wed 12-Feb-25 11:46:19

Ohh l meant 'Look at me'
So cold I can't spell today. 🤭

No I wouldn’t wear it. I think it’s horrid.

Hear, hear maddyone, it's very showy -offy & look at me! Yet I do know a few people who would wear it & they too are very showy offy & at me!
Pretentious is the word for it, horribly thing. 🥳

There was a lovely Boden one like this kircubbin2000 - how old is your son I wonder that he is embarrassedby a coat? grin

I think it's fabulous 👌

Barleyfields Wed 12-Feb-25 11:41:07

I would be very unlikely to see anyone wearing a coat like that in my neck of the woods maddyone. I understand people liking colour, but the number who like that coat has astonished me.

TheWeirdoAgain59 Wed 12-Feb-25 11:40:12

I think it's absolutely gorgeous, I'd wear it!

It's so colourful and looks really comfy!

dragonfly46 Wed 12-Feb-25 11:36:41

Yes I would - love it, just what you need on a gloomy day.

maddyone Wed 12-Feb-25 11:34:01

Since so many Gransnetters absolutely love this colourful coat, I’m just wondering why I never see anyone dressed in a similar style when I’m out and about. Just never see it.
Strange, the streets should awash with people wearing something like this since it’s so popular.

LaCrepescule Wed 12-Feb-25 11:29:32

It’s lovely and would absolutely wear it. I’m wearing a gorgeous orange jumper from Oliver Bonas and always go for colour these days (but not on the bottom half, trousers are jeans or neutral colours.)
I love colourful long summer dresses too and can’t wait to wear them.
Don’t listen to your son, his view is ridiculous.

Poppyred Wed 12-Feb-25 09:48:08

Love the colours, but no.

Dogmum2 Wed 12-Feb-25 09:02:39

I am so glad you bought it smile I am another vote yes. I love clothes, although usually found in walking gear and dull waterproofs, my wardrobe contains much sparkle and colour and thankfully my family (mostly) indulge me albeit with the occasional eye roll.

Wear it and enjoy it x

seadragon Wed 12-Feb-25 08:55:34

Love it, but then I am a Lucy & Yak fan. My son would not dare tell what to wear...or not wear....

aggie Tue 11-Feb-25 21:45:08

I love it ! But I’m too short to wear it !

crazyH Tue 11-Feb-25 21:35:18

Sorry LucyAnna

crazyH Tue 11-Feb-25 21:34:28

Just checked that Lucuanna - it’s so reasonable too - £35/- hmm … I’ll sleep on it. Do I need another jacket ?

GrannyGravy13 Tue 11-Feb-25 21:31:32

I have sensible stylish coats, grey one and a black one, but hey ho, colour is fun, and nobody is too old to have fun!

Deedaa Tue 11-Feb-25 21:26:37

I love it and would happily wear it. My latest coat is black and white with a patchwork of flower patterns. Yesterday I was complimenting a middle aged lady who was shopping in a wonderful long padded coat which was covered in a wonderful multi coloured flower pattern. It looked like the annual Orchid show at Kew.

I suppose it’s because a really nice black winter coat is very stylish & goes with everything. I saw an absolutely gorgeous one in Harrods a few years ago but sadly couldn’t afford the £5000 price tag.
A black coat with colourful accessories looks great.

There’s a vaguely similar bright (shorter) jacket for shorter folks -

If the checks didn't line up it would annoy me!
(I used to make my own and children's clothes)

M0nica Tue 11-Feb-25 19:49:28

Yes, you bet, and too hell with being a shortie. Its not what you do but the way that you do it that matters

If I was 60 years younger and about 8 inches taller. Yes!
