Our patio needs it annual clean and DH is keen to use one called Patio Magic as it claims to require no scrubbing or rinsing.

Has anyone tried one like that or have any other suggestions please?

Will Wet and Forget remove my weeds, which are sprouting on the block paving?

Don’t think so charley although it does say not to spray directly on plants so I guess it might.

As I understand it animals are safe once it has dried kitty. Best not for them to paddle in it or lick it up. If the cats can stay in until it’s totally dry all should be well.

Our latest batch is the pink container which fits on a hose and will spray large areas, hence the thought about the conservatory roof. The strength of the jet surprised Mr C, I think we’d be better to go back to the blue container to dilute and use in a less vigorous spray for our narrow patio. I suspect Mr C will disagree! It’s worked though so I’m happy.

It will kill them, and it will stop new ones growing for a while, but you still have to hoe the dead tops off if the weeds are large.

Deosan is what they use to clean farmyards isn’t it? I’d be scared about killing my plants and grass if I used sodium hypochlorite in the garden myself, I’d prefer to leave that to professionals?

Yes don’t use it near grass or plants. I checked with the water board about going down the drain & they said it was ok. I use well diluted. I also don’t bother with the power washer, only light rinse with the hose, or rain water, saving water.

I use biological washing powder (cheapest possible). Sprinkle it over generously and leave for a few days. Then brush it off. Works on tarmac driveway too (except I don’t brush it off there but just wait for the rain to wash it away).

Patio Magic is brilliant, silly as it sounds the more it rains the cleaner it gets.

But have now found even better one "Job Done" same thing put down and leave. Used this last year and my old sand coloured patios stones came up lovely, again the more it rained the cleaner they were. No scrubbing just pour on when you have a day of no rain and leave.

Have recently purchased a big bottle for this year.

Aren't people different. I've never cleaned my patio, just brush it regularly. I'd worry about what all the chemicals were doing to the wildlife, my plants and what happens when it drains off into waterways. Years ago I can't remember anyone cleaning the outdoors.

I checked with the water board, they said it was safe to use Deosan. I use it well diluted, do not use near plants & grass. I also make sure my neighbors know I am using this chemical as it smells of chlorine.
