Cost of a cut and blow dry?

I only moved to this area last year and when I found a hairdresser she charged me £30 for a cut and blow dry. I have very short straight hair so it's not a massively difficult or long job.

After Christmas the price went up to £33 and my next cut in June is going to be £36.

This is a semi-rural village and it's an extension in the house - not swanky by any standards.

When she did my highlights I was a bit shocked that it was £110 - the salon I went to prior to moving charged me £80.

Just wondered how much others pay?

I can't stand going to the hairdresser - "what are you doing this weekend?" "Any holidays booked?" etc etc and then a massive bill.

So I now use a mobile lady who charges me £15 for a wet cut. I just have to sweep up!

I used to dye my hair dark brown at home but got fed up with it. So I stopped to see what colour the grey was! At the moment it is a mix of dark grey and light grey. Once it is all grey I will try again.

Mine is £23 Senior cut and blow dry. Salons are very expensive these days. Does your hairdresser not do what I get? The prices you pay are what my salon is too for non seniors. I am semi rural

I pay £15 for a dry cut here in South Wales.

My daughter colours my hair about once a month or so, with a Garnier Nutrisse hair dye. Only because I get in a mess doing it myself grin

Wet cut £18. Very good cut and very lovely hairdresser. Loads of people ask me where I get my hair done.

I live in a London Borough bordering Kent and have had a mobile hairdresser for the last four years. I wash my hair and then have a cut and blowdry for which she charges £22 but I give her £25. We have become good friends, the cut is as good as any I have had at salons costing three times as much and I save on the hassle and cost of parking.

Cut and blow dry £76 at the salon I go too. I have half a head colour too which is an extra £67.
That's in Hampshire North of Portsmouth.

I live in Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex. My local hairdresser charges £65 for colour, cut and blow dry and £60 without the cut. The atmosphere is second to none, the hairdressers are welcoming and very supportive to their elderly clientele. It's a real treat spending a few hours in their company. I am very lucky to have found them.

I pay £40 for wash, cut and blow dry, but only rarely because I wait until I am visiting a friend down south as I won't pay £45 - £55 for a Grimsby cut anymore. It's a long way to go for a decent hair cut but each time I have my cut locally I end up looking like it's been cut around a pudding basin. Yes, I have tried lots of salons and eventually discovered they all went to the same college and were taught by the woman who has been teaching hairdressing there for nearly 50 years!

£52 for cut & blow dry every 4 weeks in my local county town. That's about the norm in the umpteen salons in the town. My hairdresser is very good, I have a short cut which needs to look edgy rather than grannyish & he obliges. No highlights or colours, I'm proud to be grey!

My hairdresser comes to me every 6 weeks for a cut, highlights & blow dry. Costs £65 (Somerset)
And she’s a fantastic cutter!

Jantan Fri 02-May-25 14:01:21

£28 here in West Norfolk - looking pretty good compared to what others are paying

EmilyHarburn Fri 02-May-25 14:00:00

Salon on a housing estate in the Nort West I pay £14 for a dry cut and £24 for a cut and blow dry.

The salon have gone over to cash because they are charged twice by the electronic terminals people once for having the terminal for cards and once by the card for the transaction. They were loosing too much by doing this. So now its cash. Suits me.

Polwal Fri 02-May-25 13:56:26

I too pay £32 for short hair...it takes 30 to 40 minutes max. North Wales.

Ellie Anne Fri 02-May-25 13:55:22

I pay about £58 to have my roots done and cut and blow dry. It’s quite a basic salon.

sazz1 Fri 02-May-25 13:46:35

I went to 2 different hairdressers here in South Devon. I booked for a wet cut no blow-dry. Just a shampoo and straight trim no layers.
The first didn't wash my hair just quick spray of water bottle £24
The second cut it dry no sign of any water £23
Still looking for a hairdresser that can wash hair! Really upset about this

sandelf Fri 02-May-25 13:46:17

Hastings area - £24 (cheaper on 'pension' day). Amazing and she is seriously good!
