Cost of a cut and blow dry?

I only moved to this area last year and when I found a hairdresser she charged me £30 for a cut and blow dry. I have very short straight hair so it's not a massively difficult or long job.

After Christmas the price went up to £33 and my next cut in June is going to be £36.

This is a semi-rural village and it's an extension in the house - not swanky by any standards.

When she did my highlights I was a bit shocked that it was £110 - the salon I went to prior to moving charged me £80.

Just wondered how much others pay?

It really does depend on the area. I live in Kent/London borough and pay £47 for a cut and blow dry. I have highlights once a year, and I think I paid around £120, which included the cut & blow dry. However, I do go to a lovely salon, so my hairdresser has expensive overheads.

ferry23 it is twice that where we live, a choice of 6 salons in this town, the salons are not even ‘lovely’ as Patsy70 describes

I think it had gone up to £45 last time I went.

Oh, maybe it's not so bad then.

It seems the older I get the more I think everything is stupidly expensive grin

It varies, last time I had highlights, a couple of weeks ago, in a configuration known as a T section, which sounds a bit like a medical procedure but it's where the crown, parting and hairline are foiled, costs less than half a head, so that with a cut and blow dry was just under £100. I go every six weeks, which is a lot I know, I only get it cut on every third visit and similarly I only get a full head of highlights also every third visit and have the T sections in the appointments in between, so my charges vary.

My hairdresser charges £65 for a cut and blow dry and £42 for a toner which I always get. I know it’s not cheap but it’s a lovely salon in a very nice area. Good hairdressers are few and far between so I have no intention of changing.

I pay £28 for cut/ blow dry, £85 for cut, roots, highlights, blow dry.
However, he comes to my house, no overheads for him except for the colours etc.
He does a brilliant cut, and I save ages driving ,parking, walking to salon in town.
Try and find a local mobile hairdresser, especially with such an easy style, saves time, money, and you don’t have to get ‘done up’ to leave the house.

I had a cut and blow dry at my usual salon this morning. It cost £55. The price has increased twice since Christmas. I’ve been going to the same place for almost 20 years.

I live in a small town in Nottingham. My hairdresser's is a small, family-owned place and I pay £36 for a trim and blow-dry.

I like near Oxford and I pay over £30 for a dry cut.

Same as me re price. Her prices have not changed in about 2 years.

Well I'm doing very well then. I had a cut and blow dry and was charged £26 but I gave her £30 as I was so pleased with it. It's just a small salon but the hairdressers are lovely and I always have a good old chat and a laugh with them so I'm a very happy bunny smile

boheminan Thu 01-May-25 20:36:48

I live just outside Oxford and pay £27 for a dry cut

I pay £47 for a cut and blow dry (although last time I was there the hairdresser was warning that he'd have to put up the prices soon*). It's £130 for highlights, including the cut, and I have that done every other time. My highlights are in two colours, and I don't know if that costs more than if I just had one.

*He blames the rise in minimum wage and NI, but as it is a small salon with fewer than 5 employees, and the only other hairdresser is a senior stylist on far more than MW he won't be liable for either 🙄. I remind him of this when he moans, and he backtracks and claims to be talking generally, but then forgets again by my next appointment and does it again. Other clients sympathise with him, and probably leave thinking how awful government policy is. It's annoying, but I like the way he does my hair and the salon is very conveniently placed.

I'm NW ....half head highlights, cut and blow dry , long Bob....£78 ..... pretty standard cost where I am

NoodleNut Thu 01-May-25 20:41:38

£40, but I have been using her for years, from her working in a Salon, to her own 'garden salon' and she now has her own shop.
I do however think I now get discount for loyalty as it hasn't gone up for ages!

Floradora9 Thu 01-May-25 21:15:33

I live in a small town and pay £30 luckily I only need to go every 6 weeks or so . She used to have her regular ladies who went every week and paid ledd but I think the numbers are dwindelling now .

spottybook Thu 01-May-25 21:27:16

£67 in Cambridge

Cabbie21 Thu 01-May-25 21:40:12

I pay £68 for cut, colour ( just combed through, no foils) and finish. Loyalty discount. Hasn’t gone up for ages.

Bigred18 Thu 01-May-25 21:49:44

I paid $135 yesterday in Sydney, that's not bad here!!

Redrobin51 Thu 01-May-25 22:19:25

I have a cut, colour and blow dry for £55. The salon is small and quite basic but staff friendly and I get the result I want.

Carlotta Thu 01-May-25 22:35:28

£17 for a dry cut here in the NW. £25 for shampoo, cut and blow dry. Never had colour or highlights so no idea how much that is. And it's a lovely salon that offers tea/coffee too.

SueDonim Thu 01-May-25 22:43:36

£54 for a cut & blow dry. That looks to be on the expensive end, according to other posts, but she does cut my hair well and it’s also a chance to relax for a while.
