Cost of a cut and blow dry?

I only moved to this area last year and when I found a hairdresser she charged me £30 for a cut and blow dry. I have very short straight hair so it's not a massively difficult or long job.

After Christmas the price went up to £33 and my next cut in June is going to be £36.

This is a semi-rural village and it's an extension in the house - not swanky by any standards.

When she did my highlights I was a bit shocked that it was £110 - the salon I went to prior to moving charged me £80.

Just wondered how much others pay?

I was shocked when the salon I frequented charged me £28 for a dry trim, so I sought out an alternative.
I now go to a Toni and Guy training academy and pay £5 for a cut and blow dry. I get a great cut but have to sit for longer as the student is mentored and assessed.

Mine charges £45 for a shampoo, excellent cut and blowdry. I tip him £5 for doing a great job and an hour of his entertaining and intelligent company.

( Zero cringemaking formula chat of every other hairdresser I've ever encountered)

I'm in Hertfordshire and pay £40 for a cut and blow dry. The price has gone up a fair bit over time but she is a very good hairdresser so I shouldn't grumble especially as I don't go regularly

In East London, paid £52 for cut and blow dry.
Salon was very quiet.

I’m in the NW and I pay £30 for a cut and blow dry; £70 for cut and highlights for me and £90 for the same for my daughter.

I pay £63 every 4/5 weeks for a cut and blow dry here in south Kent. I am really fussy about my hair so am prepared to pay a fairly high price to get a first class cut that stays nice even when my hair grows. Plus my hairdresser is the best counsellor!!!

I have someone come to my house, short cut £15. Haven't been back to a salon since before covid.

Home hairdresser charges £16 for a haircut and I wash it and it’s great. Was going bald but taking collagen has helped my hair grow back.

Crikey, thank heavens my friend comes to my house about once every 3 months and cuts mine. No colouring (went naturally grey/white years ago) or drying etc. Quick trim and tidy up.
If I had to pay some of the prices here I would have very long hair by now, or be cutting bits off for myself!

I have my hair done every 10 days - whatever is needed - blow dry only or cut and colour. I worked out I give her £100 a month on average. South Staffs.

I pay £47 for a cut and blow dry and, on alternate appointments, £97 for highlights.

I have a hairdresser who has cut my hair for a long time. She used to work in a salon in London. She was the senior cutter there and I used to pay £80 a few years ago . When she decided to leave for a salon closer to home about five years ago I asked if she would be prepared to come to my house and cut my hair. She lived not far from me and agreed so she fits me in with her work. The first time she charged me£40 but I gave her £60. I have over the years offered to up it but she has refused. If I went to her in her place of work it would cost me a lot more. Also as I have become more prone to falls and other problems it has been a bonus for her to drive to me and I really enjoy her company.

£45. here in the E Midlands for a cut and blow dry every 6 weeks, but I did notice a sign saying from April the charges were going up.

I managed to pay just shy of £200 for colour, highlights, cut & blow last week. Not London but a town where footballers, doctors and wealthy immigrants live. I keep thinking it’s ridiculous but I love the owner and trust them completely!

I'm still looking for a hairdresser since my regular one closed. Average here seems to be £50-£60 for cut and blow dry here.

£49 for a cut and blow dry in W Kent. This is much cheaper than the most upmarket hairdressers in the town.

South Buckinghamshire-I paid £64.00 for a cut and blow dry last week and I was very pleased with the result.

Astitchintime Fri 02-May-25 07:27:41

East Midlands and I pay £38 for a wash, cut and blow dry - worth every penny. A colour costs me anything from £85 to £105 depending on how many foils, and colours are used……again worth every penny.
What some people fail to acknowledge is that energy prices, water rates, employers N.I. have all increased and businesses have little choice but to pass these costs on to the customer.

If people want a cheaper appointment there’s always the option of booking into their local college where hairdressing is taught - quite often they’re accepting clients for students to work on.

There’s some big prices there
I pay £18 for wash cut and blow dry every 5 weeks I have a pixie cut and like it

mumofmadboys Fri 02-May-25 07:20:29

I have long hair. Cut twice a year. I go with washed wet hair and it costs £20 in a salon in the hairdressers garden.

karmalady Fri 02-May-25 07:13:03

£60 was for cut and blow dry

karmalady Fri 02-May-25 07:12:29

£17 for a dry cut, local, nice salon and just a short walk for me

I used to pay £60 in a plush salon, the phone would ring and she would always stop and answer it and I never felt valued. At first she was good, then became careless and took 20 minutes. I left

The dry cut now is excellent and I never blow dry my short hair anyway

Grandmabatty Fri 02-May-25 06:59:51

I have very little hair left because of a thyroid condition. My hairdresser charges me £45 every three months (it doesn't grow fast either) but always gives me something to take away e.g. shampoo, volumniser etc. I think he feels sorry for me 😂
I don't mind the expense because I only need to go four times a year and he's a lovely man.

GrannyIvy Fri 02-May-25 06:13:22

I pay £120 every 7/8 weeks for a cut blow dry and roots coloured in Peterborough.
