I only moved to this area last year and when I found a hairdresser she charged me £30 for a cut and blow dry. I have very short straight hair so it's not a massively difficult or long job.

After Christmas the price went up to £33 and my next cut in June is going to be £36.

This is a semi-rural village and it's an extension in the house - not swanky by any standards.

When she did my highlights I was a bit shocked that it was £110 - the salon I went to prior to moving charged me £80.

Just wondered how much others pay?

I think ithe cost can also be who does your hair. My local one ( Southampton) the boss charges a premium if she cuts your hair, but her two other hairdressers cost less if they do it. ie £40 for a wash cut and dry, opposed to £28 if done by one of the other girls

Here in South Yorkshire, I pay £40 every six weeks or so for a cut and blow dry, and it has gone up twice since I started to use this hairdresser when the one I had been going to for over thirty years retired after the pandemic. I didn’t think I would find another one as good, but this one is better - a wonderful cutter - so I don’t mind the price.

My friend kindly gives my short hair a wet trim every 4-5 weeks and refuses to take money so I pay for her bingo game which is £15.

I stopped dying my hair 25 years ago and luckily it doesn’t need blow drying either - just run fingers through it with some gel.

She pays her own mobile hairdresser £40 for a cut and blow dry and £50 extra for her hair dye sessions.

Cut and blow dry is £60 here in West Berkshire. She does a great job and always fits me in somehow, even at short notice.

I have a shampoo and blow dry every two weeks £10 but when I have a cut as well every six weeks or so it’s £20. I have foil highlights three times a year when there’s an offer on, this last time was 10% off £45.
I’m very lucky as my hairdresser is a lovely girl who comes to my house and has been doing so for years. She also used to cut my husbands wonderful head of hair and when he became ill and worried about having it cut she did it free of charge.
I live in Staffordshire and all my friends are grumbling about how expensive hair dressing has become now in fact one of my carers paid £140 for highlights, trim and blow dry, wow, yes I am lucky.

I have very short, straight hair and a nice chap comes round and cuts if for me every six or seven weeks. He charges me £15. He originally started with DH's hair and I realised that my hair wasn't any longer than his, so I said please cut mine. He's about the same age as me so I think he just has a handful of customers now for a bit of extra income.

Whoops hadn’t finished.. but she made a real mess the second time. I have now found another who charges £49.50 but she’s now done a good job twice so I may have to take a deep breath and fork out. I do my own colour now though as far too expensive.

My lovely hairdresser, who I had been going to for 12 years, moved and I have been trying to find another one to do my hair as I like ever since. I found one salon locally who charged £35 and, at first was pleased with my haircut but she made a

I live in a London suburb and I wash my hair and it is cut for £20. It is not a brilliant cut, but the local hairdressers charge £50 minimum for shampoo, cut and blow dry.

Pre-Covid I paid £50 for a top stylist in Bath. Now he charges £60 but I’ve let my hair grow long in the last 5 years and not had it cut. Must have saved £2,000! So I don’t feel guilty if there’s anything I fancy buying like clothes.

My regular dry cut’s going up from £20 to £22 next time (West Yorkshire). I’m always very pleased with the result - he takes his time, regales me with some very tall stories, and always makes me a cuppa.

I pay £38 for a regular (every 6 to 8 weeks) trim and blow dry. Pre-Covid I paid £18 for a wet cut, but that salon closed after Covid and the new one won’t do wet cuts.

£54 for a cut & blow dry. That looks to be on the expensive end, according to other posts, but she does cut my hair well and it’s also a chance to relax for a while.

£17 for a dry cut here in the NW. £25 for shampoo, cut and blow dry. Never had colour or highlights so no idea how much that is. And it's a lovely salon that offers tea/coffee too.

Redrobin51 Thu 01-May-25 22:19:25

I have a cut, colour and blow dry for £55. The salon is small and quite basic but staff friendly and I get the result I want.

Bigred18 Thu 01-May-25 21:49:44

I paid $135 yesterday in Sydney, that's not bad here!!

Cabbie21 Thu 01-May-25 21:40:12

I pay £68 for cut, colour ( just combed through, no foils) and finish. Loyalty discount. Hasn’t gone up for ages.

spottybook Thu 01-May-25 21:27:16

£67 in Cambridge

Floradora9 Thu 01-May-25 21:15:33

I live in a small town and pay £30 luckily I only need to go every 6 weeks or so . She used to have her regular ladies who went every week and paid ledd but I think the numbers are dwindelling now .

NoodleNut Thu 01-May-25 20:41:38

£40, but I have been using her for years, from her working in a Salon, to her own 'garden salon' and she now has her own shop.
I do however think I now get discount for loyalty as it hasn't gone up for ages!

LOUISA1523 Thu 01-May-25 20:40:21

I'm NW ....half head highlights, cut and blow dry , long Bob....£78 ..... pretty standard cost where I am

Doodledog Thu 01-May-25 20:37:35

I pay £47 for a cut and blow dry (although last time I was there the hairdresser was warning that he'd have to put up the prices soon*). It's £130 for highlights, including the cut, and I have that done every other time. My highlights are in two colours, and I don't know if that costs more than if I just had one.

*He blames the rise in minimum wage and NI, but as it is a small salon with fewer than 5 employees, and the only other hairdresser is a senior stylist on far more than MW he won't be liable for either 🙄. I remind him of this when he moans, and he backtracks and claims to be talking generally, but then forgets again by my next appointment and does it again. Other clients sympathise with him, and probably leave thinking how awful government policy is. It's annoying, but I like the way he does my hair and the salon is very conveniently placed.

boheminan Thu 01-May-25 20:36:48

I live just outside Oxford and pay £27 for a dry cut

sassenach512 Thu 01-May-25 20:36:42

Well I'm doing very well then. I had a cut and blow dry and was charged £26 but I gave her £30 as I was so pleased with it. It's just a small salon but the hairdressers are lovely and I always have a good old chat and a laugh with them so I'm a very happy bunny smile

Aldom

I like near Oxford and I pay over £30 for a dry cut.

Same as me re price. Her prices have not changed in about 2 years.
