Looking for knickers that don't cut into the thigh!

I am having a problem getting comfortable knickers. I have large thighs and all the ones I can find have seem to be the sort with elastic round the leg that cuts in. I have three wonderful pairs where the leg end is just as stretchy as the rest of the garment but they are wearing out. Any recommendations? The ones I have are from a little old lady shop with dusty window displays but even they now only have the ones with tight legs. Help!

I’ve always used Sloggi briefs. I’ve got chubby thighs and they’ve never cut in and they’re cotton.

Perhaps check these out on Conturve. Primarily a shapewear website, burpt here are some no VPL panties which are currently at a good price and in lots of sizes. conturve.com/collections/panties/products/high-waist-seamless-brief-underwear

Try Sloggi Maxi, these are so comfy to wear

I like the M&S Flexifit pants, no cutting into the leg at all and super comfortable.
I don’t have large thighs tho, but they do them in large sizes up to size 20 if you need that.

Try Asda ..Georges..very reasonably priced & a range of knicker shapes.. I find their bra's the comfiest too!

I've been buying John Lewis black cotton shorts for a number of years, which I find comfortable.

I like Anyday from John Lewis or Waitrose and find them very comfortable and they wash well.

If you want cotton I think you need to check the labels as my mother-in-law has sloggi and hers have elastane or similar in them...
Maybe some don't?

Try these ... brilliant tights too! Wouldn't go anywhere else for tights. They do knickers as well for all shapes and sizes - not tried their knickers but may be worth a look: snagtights.com/collections/snag-knickers-bras-bodysuits

Another vote for Sloggi Maxi, I have been using them for years. Normally get new ones on a Black Friday deal as they are quite expensive.

Matalan do a good range. I go up a couple of sizes. Always comfortable and last for ages. Look for the ones with a silky finish around the leg.

Can't recommend these highly enough from M and S I won't buy anything else now!

Temu- best knickers ever real bargain.

Sloggi knickers OP. They are so comfortable encompassing everything as well as being on offer sometimes, at John Lewis, Sloggi website.
I usually go one size up. I buy the maxi.
They have special stretchiness and hold up whatever they are holding up.

I am not a Sloggi employee!

Tescos have some lovely soft fabric big knickers. My daughters out me into them. No VPL either.

The ‘women’s bikers’ from H & M are really good (knickers styled like cycling shorts). Sold in sets of 2 from £19.99, sizes up to 4XL. Recommend you size up on the light control ones - very cool and comfortable.

Fluterby. I have whacking big thighs and wear and have always worn Sloggis. So comfortable, not too expensive on
Amazon and they last a lifetime. They have been coming up a bit small lately so last lot were size 14.

Another Sloggi maxi fan here!

Can thoroughly recommend The Big Bloomers Co. www.thebigbloomers company.co.uk Don’t let this title put you off. They’re super stretchy, in a variety of styles and colours and wouldn’t dream of digging in. I believe they’re made in Italy.

Grandmotherto8 I second your recommendation! I am blessed with “thunder thighs” and Wirarpa are extremely comfortable and wash really well too. I think they were on the Mumsnet “Swears by” list a while ago.

NemosMum Sat 10-May-25 22:14:04

Another vote for Wirarpa (Amazon)

Another vote for Sloggi Maxi. I buy a size bigger than my usual 'dress' size and they don't fall down!

Esmay Sat 10-May-25 23:19:35

Yours sell really comfortable knickers and tights .

Try Amazon essentials. They do packs of 6 pairs of knickers in various shades (pastels, brights, etc). I bought some which are cotton, a full brief, but with cutaway leg holes. The shape's much higher than one's thigh! They have a small amount of round elastic which doesn't pinch.

John Lewis microfibre full briefs are so comfortable. Incredibly smooth and absolutely no cutting into the skin anywhere.
