I used to think the same about John Newcombe back in the day.

It's just not the same without the line judges .

I will be glued to it, the only sport I ever watch. I was lucky enough to see Alcaraz play at Wimbledon in 2023 and I am definitely supporting him. I miss Sue Barker but like hearing Annabelle Croft’s take on the players.

He's got nice legs and looks good in his shorts 🤣

That's all I'm saying about him.

A fantastic day of tennis yesterday. My new little cat woke me up at 4.30am by chasing toys up and down the stairs, but I've turned this early start into a positive by getting out early while it's not too hot, and will get all my chores done so that I can sit down this afternoon to watch Wimbledon without a shred of guilt.
Bring on the tennis!

Looking forward to watching the two matches that were incomplete due to running out of time before the curfew. Taylor Fritz and Zverev are both struggling against excellent opponents. It will be interesting to see how they perform after an overnight break.

So many British players today it was difficult to see all of them but I watched highlights. Well done to all who got through.
Sadly not Fearnley but he was against the awesome Fonseca.

Millie22 I have to admit I wept throughout Rafa’s retirement evening at Roland Garros.

He a Federer were such gentlemen and never asked the spectators for applause. Legends imo.

That was definitely a long match for the first round and on such a hot day. I missed a whole set as I had a nap but much as I liked Fognini I wanted Carlos to win.

Enjoyed the Arthur Fery game, a young Brit knocked out the number 20 seeded Aussie.
Shame to see Jacob Fearnley go out but that young Brazilian can certainly belt a ball about!

Definitely a tennis fan here.
No Pimms for me but I picked my strawberries this morning and enjoyed them all.
The Alcaraz match was nail biting and amazing. My phone rang literally as the final point was won. Phew, what timing. It wasn’t even for me.

Crikey. I’m usually gunning for the underdog ( although they usually go on to lose their next game). But to lose the top seed so early on would have been so disappointing. Talk about rage rage against the dying of the light. What a way to end a career! And how sporting of Alcaraz to clap his opponent at the end. Methinks he is a worthy successor to Nadal and Federer.

Well that was a nail biter! And only day 1. Just as well it was too hot to go outside and do something useful!
