Unruly grey hair

I realise I am fortunate to have thick hair, and after a lifetime of very short hair I now wear it in a short bob. However, no matter how much effort I put into blow drying, it never stays in place and always looks untidy.

Can any grans suggest a product which will tame and smooth my hair, please?

I've got very thick grey hair and it really needs conditioner. If I don't use it, it's much more bushy and untidy. I don't always use this brand, but Aussie Frizzease makes my hair almost sleek.

Avoid water. I use one of the water-free towel-off shampoos. Otherwise my very fine grey hair goes to candy floss.

You could try a Frizz Ease product. It’s a serum that smooths the hair. Or maybe a mousse to help it keep its shape?

My grey hair has a mind of its own. It was always poker straight. In February I decided to grow out my pixie haircut. Having fine hair I didn't expect a problem. Wrong! It turns out now I'm grey my hair has turned wavy in some areas and curly in others. I'm in the 'inbetween' stage and am resisting the urge to give up but my goodness it's a challenge. It's so unruly and takes wax and hair spray to bring it almost under control. I'll try frizz ease, failing that a motorcycle helmet!

Olaplex - great stuff. Check out all their various options. Number 3 is a good pre-wash treatment. And after you've blowdried it, spritz Argon oil onto your hands and swish it through the ends. Also, don't have your hair cut too short. A good hairdresser will also not make it simply all the same length but will chop in after drying. Makes all the difference. I speak as one who has always had v. thick hair.
And the very best tip of all - iron it! Get some GHD straighteners. Worth every penny.

Is this the same as Aussie Calm The Frizz Hair Conditioner, please ?
Delighted you've found something that works for you & I'd love to give it a go ! Thanks in advance smile

I agree with Paperbackwtiter, "Olaplex" have excellent products so does "Philip Kingsley".
After you've blow dried your hair use a leave-in conditioner. So.... shampoo, conditioner and before you dry a leave-in conditioner. It sounds like a pain the the neck I know but good conditioning really helps.

I also wear my hair in a short bob, I’ve always had what can only be described as ‘fizzy’ hair, it’s fine and far from thick, it has a tendency to frizz especially at the back of my head, for the past couple of years I’ve been having it Brazilian blow dried aka chemically straightened and just wish I’d discovered the technique years ago as it’s a complete game changer. Whilst it is relatively ‘reassuringly’ expensive I consider it money well spent and it lasts for at least 4-5 months

I can really tell when my grey hair needs an Olaplex treatment, when it starts to get dull and frizzy. It is a pre-shampoo - put a generous amount onto wet hair, wrap it in a towel for 15 minutes or so and wash as normal. I do it about every four washes.
My clever daughter tells me there’s some actual science behind it, which enables it to penetrate into your hair to help it look smoother and prevent breakage.
