Tahini

A few months ago I bought a jar of this for a recipe I've now lost.
What does one do with this stuff? Should I bin it or what would it be good in?

When you have tahini you make hummus. Home made is by far the best you can eat.

The most obvious thing would be to make hummus with it, but you can also use it to make a nice dip to have with falafel or to make salad dressings. I've also used it to make blondies, which were really nice. Can't remember where I found the recipe, but I'm sure if you googled, you could find it - as well as lots of other ideas to use it up.

I love tahini & marmite on wholemeal sandwiches, maybe with tomato, or on toast or oatcakes.
Depending on the type, it can be nice to just eat a teaspoonful straight from the jar.

We spread it on wraps and then put salad on top. It acts as a ‘glue’ and stops everything falling out, as well as tasting good of course. Sesame seeds are full of micronutrients and tick lots of boxes for us.

I made lots of these tahini choc chip cookies. Everyone loved them and I had to buy more tahini. 😊 They are very good and easy.

I use it to make hummus, add it to greek yoghurt to make different types of dressings and you can use it in biscuits and sweet puddings.

I had bought tahini for a recipe and have had half a jar in the fridge (for longer than the label said it would keep). Looked for a recipe to use it up this week and came across Roast Whole Cauliflower with Tahini Sauce. It was delicious!

Google will find the recipe.

Tahini makes a good sandwich spread mixed with quite a lot of tamari before spreading and topping with lots of rocket or watercress.

I also like it in a roasted cauliflower dressing - but black tahina is best for this in my opinion.

My DH bought it to add to a marinade for pork. We have added it to salad dressings and sauces. It’s very tasty.
We don’t tend to get through it fast enough though to use within the date. But it seems fine for much longer if we keep it in the fridge.
Homemade houmous is better than any bought version, but I don’t like it enough to bother. I will try some of the other suggestions above though.

I often make myself roast veggies, lentil/veggie stew and similar. I nearly always serve them with a (large!) drizzle of tahini. As well as being delicious, it adds protein and is rich in calcium. In salad dressings too.

Dressings .... Tahini+ garlic+lemon juice and add water for whatever consistency you prefer.
