Weighted blankets for children

My grandson has one and unfortunately it didn't make any difference to his sleeping pattern.

Weighted blankets help some children, also weights to go around the shoulders, like a wrap, help some during the day time. It gives a feeling of grounded security.

It’s worth investigating borrowing equipment from a charity or school so you can try out various types before you invest in something - as always with children what is one person’s sliced bread is another’s burnt toast.

I worked at a charity which supported children with ASN and their families and I know quite a few of them did use weighted blankets and found them helpful, but there were others who said they hadn't made any difference at all. Like many things, it seems to differ from one individual to another, and you need to get the right blanket for that particular child.

I m not experienced only having used a weighted blanket when staying with someone who thought they were the best thing since sliced bread, I personally didn’t sleep any different to normal and found the weight a bit too much like imprisonment I m wondering if a child with ADHD might find that too, bearing in mind if they are held when having a melt down they often fight more.
I know many on here think they are wonderful so I m sure you ll get better answers than mine
