The real question is whether Putin’s power and vision will last beyond his life I think. The same applies to Netanyahu and to Trump. So much of what is happening seems to be personality and ego driven, and those very strong leaders are all old, and not in good health. I’m not convinced that any of them are representative of their electorates, and what will happen when they are no longer around is an unknown.

Russia has no shortage of despots that will step into Putins shoes when he goes, while he has the support of China to buy his oil and other resources, that’s not likely to change China will increase the supply of technology to continue the war, if it is escalated, it suits China nicely to have Ukraine as a distraction for the west.

The only one who has any chance of bringing Putin to heel is Trump by implementing severe sanctions to cripple Russia's economy, but he wont.

It's horrible watching Putin's vicious attacks on Ukraine but it demonstrates that any peace has to safeguard Ukraine for the future or Putin will rearm and return again to take more territory. Unfortunately Trump is absolutely key to this and he seems to be Putin's poodle. I'm not one for conspiracy theories but it's makes me wonder?

Putin will stop when he has secured his goals. Zelensky gone from Ukraine and a smaller Ukraine. Plus NATO kept away from Ukraine. Trump can’t change Putin’s strategy.

It’s clear now that Ukraine is going to be a real test of Europe's resolve so far it’s been mostly talk. We have and the US have supplied then with mostly Cold War materials that would have been scrapped anyway, now it’s going to cost a lot if we are to defeat Putin.

Trump has decided that he’s not really interested who rules Ukraine, he wants an end to fighting, Zelensky wants a independant Ukraine in EU and NATO, while he has the support of Europe he will continue with that goal. To be brutally honest its well past time that Europe grasped the reality of the situation, are we really going to provide Ukraine with enough weapons to win on the battlefield and drive Russia back.

Putin is not going to give up his aim of Ukraine as his puppet state and he does not believe that Europe is capable of stopping him. So far we have done nothing to convince him otherwise.

Trump has brought Putin out of the cold and back on the world stage.
This has given him a new impetus and status and it's bad news for Ukraine.
As Trump has caused more fighting and killing by being friendly with Putin and Netanyahu there's no way he should get the peace prize

Putin won’t stop until the west grows some and we have someone sane as President of USA.

Exactly the same with Netanyahu.

It isn’t looking very optimistic at the moment is it?

I had read that the King of Norway had quietly dropped Trump's name from the suggested list. However I don't know how accurate that is.
Putin won't stop until he dies.

I'm hopeful of this, too olderme. Although there is a tight hold on the media, there must be an awareness in the population that they are paying a high price for one man's megalomania. Perhaps this might be seen as an opportunity for a pretender to take over, with a plan to stop the bloodshed.

The only measure that I can see is very, very severe economic sanctions that will devastate the Russian economy. People in Russia are already unhappy. Should the economy take a nose dive, there could be a real change in power . Alternatively, his obvious ill health could overtake him.

Trump is too chummy with Putin and Netanyahu. It's pretty obvious they're doing deals behind closed doors to carve up various bits of the world whilst appearing to want peace. They just want to line their own pockets and fuel their own egos.

There is no way that Trump should get any prize let alone a Peace prize. The only prize he should be getting is for the biggest liar, racist, molester of women, never saying anything you can believe if it doesnt suit him, and of course greedily looking at other countries to see what he can try and steal.

He seems to be ramping up his murderous attacks day by day.

Trump makes lots of threats against Russia but never carries them out. Whenever asked for any action on the Ukraine/Russia War, he always says he will do something in 2 weeks, but again backs off.

It will be a travesty if Trump gets the Peace Prize.
