My number one - to get rid of Putin
Number two - banish the dark winter nights
Number three - heat over 25 degrees

Over to you.

People who start a sentence with "I feel like..." or constantly use "like" in conversation.
Girls who go to the gym with too much on show.
Groups of people who gather, stop and talk on pavements, ignoring others who have to walk around them, often moving onto the road to get past.
Retail staff who don't know where items are in the shop they work in.
Work colleagues who start doing something else (e.g. getting washing out of a machine) during an online meeting, This is rude or attention-seeking in my book.

Professional bakers who take your money when you order a cake, then produce something that looks rushed, is too sweet and has the gall to say it looks stunning, when the reverse is true.
Over-engineered cycle lanes that take up half the road, then disappear on busy junctions or roundabouts when you really need the safety of a dedicated space to manoeuvre and navigate through it.
Restaurants that serve small portions and never ask if you'd like more veg or chips or a bigger pudding.
Friends who drink alot, then expect you to split the bill equally when you've only had one drink.
I think I could go on with this. It's quite therapeutic

Ooh ooh I have another one to add.
Friends who ask out of the blue if you fancy going to an evening out, you say yes as you want to be a good friend as this is obviously something they want to do, then they tell you to get your own ticket, WTF! It really gives me the ick as I could never do that to a friend

Freshair I feel I must object to retail staff being sent to GN Room 101. 😾
Firstly: you should be more grateful that there are still “physical” retailers to shop from and
Secondly: the world of shop work has changed ie it’s not Grace Brothers (Are You Being Served).
many retail staff work in four hour slots at varying times between 8 am and 10pm and they may not see a large shop in its’ entirety because they’re busy on their own section not swanning about chatting with other staff.
Also stock gets moved around and rearranged by merchandisers overnight.

Ps. Have you really seen someone break off from an online meeting to empty the washing machine?
Wow 😮

Freshair Thu 11-Sept-25 02:56:34

Granmarder - OK appreciate your point about retail staff, but if I worked in a shop, I'd make it my business to know what I'm being asked to sell. Yes, I have seen breaking off from teams meetings to do domestic tasks then keeping everyone waiting before they are properly engaged in the meeting again.

Many of the above but also

Shops putting the smallest shoes on the top shelf. It usually stands to reason that if you have a small foot that you're also lacking in the height department. As a 5ft nothing I find it so frustrating.
People who say do you know what I mean.
Hairdressers that ask what you want then just do what they want with your hair.

Dickens Mon 06-Oct-25 13:29:47

(1) Spokespersons who refer to "missed opportunities" in an organisation when something awful has happened to - usually children, when in fact it's sheer incompetence. It's from the same stable as "we take our clients' welfare very seriously" and "lessons will be learned".

(2) The whole "care in the community" system in Britain which is woefully underfunded and understaffed.

(3) "Influencers"...
