What was the outcome for these GN's.

Sometimes a post resonates with me and I would love to know the outcome.
Two that stick in my mind was a lady having dreadful problems with a painful leg which needed regular dressing. She was clearly very distressed by the poor treatment from her GP surgery and the pain and constant weeping from her leg.
The other was a Granny who had given a box of biscuits to the playgroup staff when her GD left to go to school. Granny had collected her 4 days a week for a couple of years so had got to know them. It was her way of saying thank you. When her daughter found out she hit the roof and stopped speaking to her Mum.
Both these posts had pages of replies but I would love to know if the lady is no longer suffering with her leg and if, now that term has started, the daughter has started speaking to her Mum again, if only to ask for lifts to and from school.
Do other GN's wonder how some posters have got on?

Was that our lovely phoenix? Sounds as though it could have been.

She was banned for getting stuck into a person who lives under a bridge.

The mind boggles at that comment!
Posters on here often make me laugh. They are often funny and mostly lovely!

crazyH Wed 10-Sept-25 21:46:59

I don’t think Phoenix is with us anymore. She has gone to a better place 😢 .

ViceVersa Wed 10-Sept-25 21:23:49

A lot of these 'old' names have brought back the memories - posters who are much missed. Even if I didn't always agree with them, I always enjoyed reading their posts.

Nanny27 Wed 10-Sept-25 21:23:17

Phoenix was extremely kind to me when I was in a worrying situation some years ago.
I also miss some if these posters who seem to have gone.
I stopped posting for quite some time because I always felt as though my posts were ignored. Probably just me feeling a bit sensitive but I've been back a while now and enjoying the threads

EllenVannin brightened my day.

Mine too.

Usedtobeblonde Wed 10-Sept-25 21:04:44

EllenVannin was a lovely poster who shouldered a huge burden with family.
She seemed to cope with different generations if I remember correctly.
She also fostered an old cat which endeared her to me.
I could never understand why she fell foul of administration.
So many who seemed innocuous to me got banned at one time.
There were others who were universally liked who I actually found difficult to take to, however that was probably more my personal judgement than anything they did.
How good it is that we are not all alike .

Fancythat
There’s more chance of Putin ending the war than GSM grovelling. And why should someone grovel 🤷‍♀️

🤣😂🤣😂🤣

I miss EllenVannin too - always interesting and I feel really sorry for those who can’t accept that not everyone thinks the same. Some very narrow minded and limited people around.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 10-Sept-25 19:07:05

I occasionally think of EllanVannin our lovely crumpet queen. A Liverpool Lass who shouldered much anxiety over her grandchild who went away to (?) Yorkshire for residential education and care. A much loved poster. Very forthright which didn’t suit some. She got banned in the end.
👋 if you’re reading lady. x

Does grannyactivist still post? She was lovely.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 10-Sept-25 18:46:31

I miss GSM she was kind and helpful to those in need.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 10-Sept-25 18:43:58

JenniferEccles I miss Gabriella, she was always so happy with her lot

Her descriptive posts were a joy to read.

Who was the incredibly funny poster, who wrote about putting her knickers on either sideways or backwards? . Her posts were so uplifting

Mt61 Wed 10-Sept-25 18:02:05

I think GSM voted Tory, I too was a Tory voter so maybe the left on here took a dislike to her- who knows 🤷‍♀️

JenniferEccles Wed 10-Sept-25 17:22:35

I particularly loved Gabriella’s stories about how she was in the habit of putting together snacks for delivery drivers!

We only have to look at old threads usually resurrected by advertisers, to see just how many names we recognise who are no longer posting.
Sometimes I have been delighted to see a familiar name, only to realise the thread is a few years old.

Patsy70 Wed 10-Sept-25 17:14:11

I seem to recall that the last thread FannyCornforth started was to do with her asking for advice, as she was thinking of getting a dog. I may be wrong of course.

petra Wed 10-Sept-25 17:01:25

I’ve put this up before but it’s worth repeating.
If you have a friend on GN that you talk to through PMs exchange email addresses.
When/if you’re banned it is instant. If you haven’t exchanged emails there is no other way to contact.

GSM was very helpful to many of us with her legal advice. I certainly miss her.

GSM was a kind, polite, helpful person.

I'd not say I miss her for her advice, which to me is self serving.

I miss her because she's lovely.

I'd not say I miss her for her advice, which to me is self serving.

How could it have been self-serving?
How could her advice have advanced her own interests in any way? This is just a forum.

Hello Shandy ! Your house downsize was an inspiration to me though I haven't managed to do mine yet.
I hope life is going well for you.

Another poster I very much miss is Gabriella Such entertaining posts, but again there were those who seemed to take delight in sniping and criticising her.
She quite rightly retaliated, so possibly was banned.
Such a shame.

I liked * Gabriella* I disagreed with alot she posted but I found her interesting and different.

Babs03 Wed 10-Sept-25 16:02:19

I never knew Germanshepherdmum but if I were this particular lady I would consider myself truly blessed to have so many members remembering me whenever a thread like this arises.
She may not be on GN but her memory obviously lives on.
The majority of us will probably go unnoticed.

jocork Wed 10-Sept-25 16:00:47

GSM gave good advice and though I never needed her answers myself I learnt things that may be useful in future.

It's good to hear updates about those who have posted in difficult times. Glad to hear you are improving Ferry!
