Ask a gran

What was the outcome for these GN's.

Sometimes a post resonates with me and I would love to know the outcome.
Two that stick in my mind was a lady having dreadful problems with a painful leg which needed regular dressing. She was clearly very distressed by the poor treatment from her GP surgery and the pain and constant weeping from her leg.
The other was a Granny who had given a box of biscuits to the playgroup staff when her GD left to go to school. Granny had collected her 4 days a week for a couple of years so had got to know them. It was her way of saying thank you. When her daughter found out she hit the roof and stopped speaking to her Mum.
Both these posts had pages of replies but I would love to know if the lady is no longer suffering with her leg and if, now that term has started, the daughter has started speaking to her Mum again, if only to ask for lifts to and from school.
Do other GN's wonder how some posters have got on?

There can be no shades of grey

Very true, something I have noted.

There are some very sharp posters on GN now, on very non contentious threads.
It seems they can’t think that anything should be other than “ black or white “
There can be no shades of grey.
I have thought at times of leaving or just posting in Soop’s kitchen, but no, my views , whether agreed with or not are as valuable and legitimate as anyone else’s.

To put the record straight ..

Last summer (July 2024 time?), there seemed to be a competition going on who could be the most critical of Germanshepherdsmum. There were some nasty comments saying she made snide remarks, nit-picked, needed her wrists slapped, should mind her own business etc. It was obvious that there was a wave of reporting going on. Then she disappeared.

Several of us got caught up in having our posts deleted, and being removed or suspended from GN. I have no idea why. I received a GN email saying I was goading? I decided to leave, for all of a week or so, then I tried to change my name. GN would not allow me to rejoin, despite persistent emails to HQ. No one could pm me, a couple of posters tried on my behalf. I figured I must be banned? Eventually I found a cunning way to re-enter GN.

I don't miss one or two of the posters from 4 or 5 years ago, but Shandy was a good friend, and another lady I can't remember the name. Long gone now.

I am in regular contact with GSM. She is quite well and still reads the threads….
I can assure you, it was not her choice to leave….

Would she change her ways if she came back?

I have no idea if GN would allow that, but if GSM changed her attitude from before[assuming that was what it was], did some grovelling perhaps, might that work for both sides?

Just a suggestion.

if GSM changed her attitude from before

Not sure what you mean by that.
🤔

She didn't suffer fools gladly but she wasn't a bully.

It’s not easy to hide/ change your style of writing. Plus, GSM was very kind in giving expert free legal advice.
If for one moment she was to offer that advice the member/ members who reported her will be on that report button quicker than a blink.
It’s happened before.

Some new posters seemed to appear, goad, get reactions, longstanding posters disappeared, presumably disappeared, then the new poster(s) disappeared. It was all very strange.

Does anyone else remember GagaJo? She had a young grandson and did online teaching. She used to contribute a lot and then nothing……

Mt61 Wed 10-Sept-25 10:17:58

I remember these two grans- yes I wonder if anything was resolved.

Aveline Wed 10-Sept-25 09:49:19

Maybe the unpleasant people who complained about her have left? I can only hope so. There seems to be fewer disappearing grans due to banning these days.

There’s more chance of Putin ending the war than GSM grovelling. And why should someone grovel 🤷‍♀️

Depends how much a person wants something.

However, others have come back but I doubt they grovelled!

Could GSM not come back with another name? I wish she would.

I often wonder about morethan2 who had a very sad time when her DiL died. She was providing a lot of support for her grandchildren if I remember correctly.

Oh, the quote didn’t come through as well. That’s to Petra’s Caymans comment.

Surely they have t’internet there! wink

I often wonder what happened to a member who described how her DH who had dementia had tried to strangle her and she had ended up in hospital in a bad way whilst her DH was put in a care home.

Yeh right.

Caymen Islands.

I might start to do the lottery again.

Patsy70 Tue 09-Sept-25 20:20:22

Maddyone posted on 5th February to say that she had at last got a date for her surgery. No further news as far as I am aware. 🤞

Does anyone know what happened to Germanshepherdsmum? I think she was banned around the same time as Callistemon but hopefully she came back under another name too?
I miss her good advice on things legal

Callistemon wasn't banned.

I do wish Germanshepherdsmum could come back.

There are several posters who ruffle a few feathers so why some are banned and others are not remains a mystery.
Germanshepherdsmum was always supportive and helpful to those who needed help and advice.

Why maddyone was banned is another mystery.

Banning posters when they are at their most vulnerable asking for support seems to be very wrong,

petra Tue 09-Sept-25 20:19:07

Yes what happened to Callistemon?

I believe she’s living in the Caymen Islands after a lottery win.
