Autumn is well on its way. Just returned from our holidays in Tenerife and I feel like I've come back to Autumn’ šŸ
Packed away my beach clothes into the case for next year! (Sadly)
All the ā€˜new seasons clothes’ are in the shops! Really feel like I need a sort out to see what I need for the winter. Not keen on online shopping but not many shops in my area unless I’m willing to travel, so probably order a few items from Next online. What’s everyone else doing šŸ˜‚

I’ll soon be packing away the summer dresses and getting out the winter woollies - it’s starting to get a bit chilly round here! I can’t promise not to buy anything at all, apart from essential underwear and shoes, but I am more conscious these days of what fast fashion is doing to our planet, so I won’t be tempted to get much. I don’t even need to buy pre-loved as I have a couple of wardrobes bursting with clothes, and I can alter things if need be. I also have a very stylish DD who’s the same size as me and I inherit her cast offs on a regular basis. smile

Lucky youenvy

Am wearing a cotton jumper today, cotton bridges the gap until colder weather.
Vinted is a really good site.

The change in the weather has seen me make a trip to a shopping outlet village and I bought 2 plain funnel neck sweatshirts, 2 cardigans and 2 pairs of ankle boots.
None were full price
and I think that is my wardrobe sorted this Autumn.
(I already have jeans)

Am afraid my old clothes from last year and probably the few years before that will have to do. And I bought good clothes made to last or good labels from a charity shop.
Am not a seasonal buyer.

Me too.

I doubt I shall need to buy anything, as I have plenty of indoor and outdoor clothes and footwear.

I shall certainly soon be looking a couple of warmer jackets out, though.

I’m determined not to go into jumpers until October. I’ve got a lot of summer clothes that I felt too hot in this Summer - trousers and light, long sleeved tops -so I’ll wear them throughout September.

My Autumn ā€˜thing’ is coats, I just can’t resist buying at least one every winter, I’m searching for the scarlet pimpernel of coats I think. As soon as it starts to feel chilly I start looking for perfection again.

@Ilovedogs, I just don’t see why I should keep buying more clothes when I have enough from before. If I need something I will go on V***ed, or trawl the charity shops. You can get new clothes with the tags still on and with a good label. Also is more choice. But I always make things last, always have done, I just think clothes are comfier when you have worn them in for a while and why spend more money when everyday expenses are so high.

It’s not always pNEEDING new clothes, it’s often fancying a change. In my case it’s often sizes… what fitted last year doesn’t fit this year. I’m usually in jeans and tops/jumpers ( plus thermals when it gets cold) , but I do have a ā€˜thing’ about jumpers and end up with masses in different colours plus accessories of course, depending…sloppy, casual, working, going out, and formal. I have velvet jeans for formal! Happy to be both comfy and occasionally stylish!

I took delivery yesterday of a pair of navy trousers from M&S, they are already packaged to go back.
They were described as stretch jersey , warm I thought.
No they are silky and lightweight.
I shall look around for a different pair but that may be the end of my buying.
I shall resurrect my long black quilted coat, third winter, and so unfashionable but I don’t care.
Plenty of jumpers, both lightweight and cold weather weight.
I shall be fine.

Early mornings in the Madrid Capital it is approx. 18 or 19 centig degrees and goes up to approx. 26 - 29 centig. lunch time.

So, one must use flexible clothing items and carry a big shoulder bag or racksack (backpack) for their morning sweater or denim jacket or blazer or cardigan .. It is gorgous in the morning and mid day, well, I am not a fan of heavy heat !!

I was in Zara this past week and purchased 2 pairs of trousers and a stunning double breasted blazer and a pair of black suede flats ..

Shall need new turtlenecks & a couple of shirts and a new leather jacket for casual wear. I do not need new jeans.

I also want to get a dressy coat - mid calf length...

I've moved into long sleeved tops instead of short. Not chilly enough for woolly things yet.
I'm planning a massive sort out of clothes this autumn as I seem to have too many full cupboards and drawers.
Not planning to buy anything new.
Well, probably not.

Just been sorting through my wardrobe, all I really need is a new Winter skirt, to wear with long boots.

Yes, I have skirts which I haven't worn for a couple of years since the soles on my lovely long boots split. The leather was still perfect but even the cobbler couldn't mend them.

i am lucky that i do not need to swap clothes, i don't like summer and i love winter, i don't really get cold, spent most of last winter without the heating on, my only swap is i will wear a jacket but otherwise it will still be tops and t-shirts.

I'm feeling chilly already!

Most of mine clothes are quite old and I'm just bored with a lot of them. I need to sort out what I do like, see what goes with what and get rid of some.

I’ve fallen in love with Vinted and if I need anything will look there first….

Your so lucky šŸ˜‚ I’m not a cold person, hate to be too wrapped up, prefer thin layers, hate really thick jumpers…too hot 🄵

I'm about to do the "swap over" from summer to autumn/winter clothes. I'll just leave a couple of T shirts in the drawer and some lighter weight trousers in case we get a hot spell later this month (fingers crossed!)

I've made myself several sweatshirts, knit tunics and pairs of jogging pants/heavier weight trousers over the last couple of years, and I've got loads of jersey, fleece and sweatshirt fabric in my stash, so if I do fancy something new I will get sewing!

Also very excited that I can make my youngest GD sweatshirts, long sleeved tops, dungarees and pinafore dresses in heavier weight fabric for her winter wardrobe. Luckily, at only 2 1/2 she is still happy to wear her Nanny's hand-made clothes, unlike the 13 year old GD!

Your 13 year old doesn’t know what she is missing. I love hand made clothes, so jealous that you are so good at it.
At school I was supposed to be making a nightdress in sewing class, it was so lamentable that the teacher said I should make it into an apron instead.
A lovely friend of my DD’s who is Godmother to my GS makes beautiful clothes for him, trousers, shorts, sweatshirts and jackets, she even made him little underpants with the days of the week on when he was potty trained.
Puts me to shame.

Youngnanny Thu 11-Sept-25 19:45:52

Wow you make clothes, that’s amazing well done šŸ‘

AskAlice Thu 11-Sept-25 19:11:00

Terribull, I'm still sticking to my indoor flip-flops for now, but only because I spent two hours yesterday giving myself a very thorough pedicure and rough-skin removal and I can't bear the thought of my lovely soft feet and tidy toenails being hidden in socks and slippers! My back and hips are still suffering grin

TerriBull Thu 11-Sept-25 19:04:20

I've had to resurrect my raincoat. I'm wearing socks around the house, as well as having to serve notice, for the time being, on my thinner baggy summer trousers and open toed footwearsad

AskAlice Thu 11-Sept-25 18:57:52

Ilovedogs22 that made me giggle!
