I don't like Baileys - what can I drink?

As we near Christmas lots of people seem to get really excited about drinking Baileys.

I can't stand the stuff.

My tastes are quite boring in that I really only like chilled white, rose or prosseco.

Is there anything a bit more exciting (but not too complicated) that I might like to drink - and to celebrate the season.

What is your favourite drink at this time of year?

Baileys currently £11 a LITRE at Sainsbury - just saying like…

Have what you like!

Indeed! Have a taste test!

Have what you like! I drink Baileys all year....because I like it! It's not just for Christmas...

I too like Amaretto, though it might be too sweet for some people. I like fino sherry, or Jack Daniel’s with tonic water. Seeing the multitude of choices mentioned made me think of Scottish Hogmanays when I was a child in the 50’s when whisky, sherry and beer were the only drinks on offer. I remember when advocat was added to the options!

CocoPops, Catterygirl, and Lahlah, I can recommend the ready mixed Blood Orange Negroni by Marks and Spencer.
One of my SIL's will be very happy to see this in his Christmas present bag from me

Ooh - that sounds good, I’ll definitely be adding this to my Christmas list x

I don't see the point of alcohol free wine.

I remember going to a friend's house last Christmas and having glass of strawberry daiquiri. Wow, it was gorgeous.

I don't really drink now but I used to like Cointreau or Tia Maria or a dry sherry

Me too

Wonderful, as long as the mixer is brandy!

CanadianGran Tue 25-Nov-25 21:12:27

Oh, and I just found out it is pronounced lee-lay.

Daddima, I just tried Lillet and soda for the first time yesterday at book group. It was really nice. I hadn't heard of it before.

I don't like Baileys, but chocolate Bailey's is yummy.

Champagne and Kit Royale made with Framboise.

M and S (other shops are available ) Aldi even...have small tins of cocktails or ready mixed drinks, you could buy a couple of those and then it's not too much to waste if you don't like them?

I’ve just bought a bottle of Italicus. Can be drunk with Prosecco but I’ve not tried it yet.

Champagne and good dry white wine (champagne a rare but real treat )

Loads of suggestions here, thank you all so much.

I have just been to Sainsbury's for a browse and have decided that I really enjoy my Rose so i'm going to stick with it. Occasionally, I might have a rose prosecco- my girls and I all like Kylie's.

But, I am going to order a mixed box of cocktails and try those too.

I LOVE Baileys, and there are different flavours now. I also like a snowball for Christmas. It helps you not to drink too much, because it is a long drink.
When I get home from my daughter’s on Christmas Day, I will have a hot chocolate with a drop of brandy in to finish off the day. I know how to live!
Have a wonderful time, everyone!

You sound like my type of person!

A good whisky, single malt NOT blended with nothing else in it…….apart from another whisky perhaps! No ice and no water.

mokryna Tue 25-Nov-25 15:53:34

A good single malt whisky, no ice, which I can warm with my hands for a fuller taste.
I am allergic to champagne and most wines and beers.

WelshPoppy Tue 25-Nov-25 15:26:09

Cup of tea for me.

Daddima Tue 25-Nov-25 14:50:51

I like Lillet ( though not wild about the name!) but I don’t know how widely available it is. It comes in white or rosé.

Shill29 Tue 25-Nov-25 14:50:14

Ginger wine!

I don’t drink much and am not keen on Baileys either but I love champagne. Also happy enough with Prosecco or Cava if they’re decent ones, otherwise I add fresh orange juice. Some mulled wines are nice if they’re not too sweet, St Clements do some ready made ones, with and without alcohol which are a simple solution for a glass or two if you don’t want to make a panful yourself.
