I don't like Baileys - what can I drink?

As we near Christmas lots of people seem to get really excited about drinking Baileys.

I can't stand the stuff.

My tastes are quite boring in that I really only like chilled white, rose or prosseco.

Is there anything a bit more exciting (but not too complicated) that I might like to drink - and to celebrate the season.

What is your favourite drink at this time of year?

kittylester Mon 24-Nov-25 13:04:45

Prosecco!!

I like the Polish fruit syrups, which I add to prosecco for a treat.
What about a Bucks Fizz?

I don't really drink now but I used to like Cointreau or Tia Maria or a dry sherry

A snowball. Lime cordial, Advocaat and lemonade.

I couldn’t drink Baileys to save my life.

I only drink Cava, Cremant, Champagne, dry white and red.

I once had a Crabbies/Stones ginger wine with a mixer I seem to remember it was not too bad.

Amontillado sherry. A winter favourite of mine.
Stones Ginger wine.
BTW I don’t like Baileys, either. C

Regarding cream type liqueurs, I prefer Amarula to Baileys, I find it less sweet with a good alcoholic kick. We first tried it at the Good Food Show a few years ago and liked it straightaway.

I also like a drop of Chambord, the black raspberry liqueur, in sparkling wine such as prosecco.

My favourite drink is Raspberry syrup or Raspberry and lime syrup which Polish grocery stores sell, mixed with golden ale.

I LOVE Baileys, and there are different flavours now. I also like a snowball for Christmas. It helps you not to drink too much, because it is a long drink.
When I get home from my daughter’s on Christmas Day, I will have a hot chocolate with a drop of brandy in to finish off the day. I know how to live!
Have a wonderful time, everyone!

Just stick to what you would normally drink.
Why risk headaches, hangovers, open bottles of drinks that you don’t like.
Just stick to what you know & like

Kittylester I ll send the postage
I love Baileys and Stones Ginger Wine (I could drink a bottle straight off) and Cider the rest you can keep
I can’t stand Prosecco not that keen on wine, a glass now and then maybe
Alcohol has no effect on me (unfortunately) I can drink a bottle of wine and feel no effects it’s very disappointing

How about a Kir Royale, often made with Champagne but you can also use Prosecco. Your fizz of choice and a small amount of creme de cassis (blackcurrant).
You can also make a raspberry liquer version.

I love Baileys but also drink ginger beer shandy. Lager and ginger beer instead of the usual lemonade.

Hot port! Just dilute port with about the same amount of boiling water, slice of orange. (You can get more complicated, with cloves etc, but basic version is fine.)

I'm not that keen on Baileys either and very fussy with drinks. I've recently found a drink I quite like and got a couple of bottles in for Christmas. Funkin Cocktails Strawberry Daiquiri and it's available in supermarkets. £9.75 for a 70 ltr bottle.

Port is a very nice drink. It’s not just for gouty old men! You can get white port which is good when chilled.

Casdon Mon 24-Nov-25 13:56:42

I don’t like Baileys, or any other very sweet drinks. You could get a few of the individual serving bottles of the wine, prosecco, champagne that you do like, and have one of those whilst all around you are drinking the sweet stuff.

I have fond memories of hot port and brandy in Irish pubs during a very cold December! IIRC, hot water, sugar and lemon, with the P and B.

Ginger wine and whisky. The only time I drink whisky. Haven’t had that for years and really want one now, especially now that it’s so cold.

Jaxjacky Mon 24-Nov-25 14:09:26

I drink white wine or lager shandy, if I’m not driving, otherwise lime and soda, but have just bought four cans of espresso martini for over Christmas.
I’m another who doesn’t like Baileys or other cream liqueurs.

My go to is always gin and I quite like the fruit flavoured as well. Especially rhubarb and ginger - but really I think of it as a summer drink.

foxie48 Mon 24-Nov-25 14:15:38

I like sloe gin with something like a Cava or prosecco tbh I always think it's a shame to add something to a decent champagne but that works too!
