Does anyone have any advice on coping with the excruciating pain particularly in winter.

My GP gave me Naproxen and stomach protector but i needed surgery in the end. The Naproxen helped with the pain.

Firstly, I'm sorry you have excruciating pain with this but secondly, I'm amazed that you have an actual diagnosis!

All I'm told is that it's osteoarthritis, to be expected when you're older and no, don't take anti-inflammatories.
I think these are the joints where the nerves can become trapped, leading to pain and possibly sciatica.

Do you think physiotherapy to strengthen the muscles around that area would be beneficial? If so, can you self-refer in your area?
I've just been to the physio this morning and have been given some chair exercises which strengthen the lower back. 🤞 They will help.

I found acupuncture helped. They can also do injections into the facet joints which ease the pain for a few months. I'm not sure how easy it is to get referred to the hospital for any of this now as I was seen quite a long time ago.
