There are many beautiful flat shoes around at the moment.

If you have a John Lewis nearby book an appointment with a personal shopper.

I agree, but above all, listen to your daughter! The above items can all be worn again, and you will look classy enough for the occasion, and still be comfortable.

How about some wide leg trousers with a contrasting jacket you can then get away with flat shoes. I have the same problem as you so separates help immensely. I actually wouldn't go for a long length jacket unless you are tall more of a fitted waist length Chanel style jacket. I find trousers with hidden stretch waists particularly helpful.
As for dresses I tend to go for a jersey mix much more forgiving but knee length or they just swamp me.

Me too, or even Elasticated velvet trousers, I’ve just purchased a pair, either from Next or Curvissa, cannot remember which as I’m always shopping and always online.

I haven't worn heels for decades. In fact I have never really worn high heels after a year of high stiletto heels when I was 18. I have poor balance and fell off them so many times, I chucked them after a year. I do not understand why people think high heels are necessary for a smart outfit.

There are plenty of smart very low heeled or flat shoes.Look at the M&S range.

As for dressing up for the wedding. Look at your existing wardrobe, preferably with your daughter or a friend. You may find a combination of what you already have will be perfect.

I could not find anything I liked for DS's wedding, so wore a nice silk suit I had bought a few years previously and not worn much. Most people didn't know and those who did, were entirely unbothered.

I think we make too much fuss over wedding dressing. Just put on your best bib and tucker.

When my son got married 18/12 ago I searched for a new dress but couldnt find anything I liked. I wore my best dress which I'd worn to the same son's Christening 28 years before!

Try Scarlett and Jo dresses. They are maxi with a clever band under the bust which is very flattering for bigger ladies. I wore one to my daughters wedding and had lots of compliments. Main thing was I felt comfortable so relaxed. Good luck !

To our son's wedding I wore flat shoes, plain black trousers and top under a gorgeous long floaty purple silk top (with sleeves and open down the front). No hat. Dh wore a dark suit, a purple shirt and purple silk tie. We rocked.

Choose a style of outfit that you know suits you,
be comfortable as your Daughter says, and pick a flattering colour for you.
Flat shoes are fine - and wear a smile. Enjoy the day Narnia.
I bought ridiculous strappy suede shoes with heels to “go with” a dress and jacket for my Daughter’s wedding and had blisters that bled by the end of the day.
I never wore them again.

I never wear high heels either. There are some very smart low heeled and flat shoes around.

Some great ideas, my tip is to wear a colour that really suits you on the top, lipstick that goes well with your top and a big smile. Have a great day.

Narnia I have worn 3 piece Ann Balon outfits twice for my children's weddings. The first bought new at great expense and the second was second-hand and very cheap from Ebay.

I have a big bust too and am 5'7". My legs and the rest of me is quite "normal" - shapely even (though too much tummy!) I think the quite stretchy lace works well as it skims my thighs and comes in a little below them. The 3 piece shapes seem quite flattering to me.

The skirt has an elasticated waist and everything is light enough and comfortable to wear all day. They are a "chunky" lace, hand wash and nicer on me than their own photos suggest!
I'll see if I can find a couple...

The other thing that works for me are a Chesca style I've bought twice in the sale...

They have made it in different colours. It's a viscose jersey and easy to wear. It disguises my stomach and stretches fine over my bust. It can still looks dressy. I'd be happy to wear mine to a wedding and wore one of mine for my son's wedding.

I obviously make sure I wear a good fitting bra - everything seems to look better when I'm wearing a Prima Donna bra!

Why stress about your outfit?

Just get something reasonably smart but casual that you feel comfy in and can wear again.

Your DD sounds completely relaxed about it all, so should you.

What about Roman? Don’t they do smartish trousers & tops, at a reasonable price.
You could get some nice flat sparkly sandals.

...but I'd still want to "make an effort" to mark the day ' - after all it's the start of a marriage.

My middle daughter married in a register office in the summer. She is a fashion designer (so anything goes) and I wore some tailored cropped trousers to that one - but with a gorgeous (to me) long-line jacket.

Yes. I am impressed with them.
They are a heavy lace - I think it's Spanish. It's more like a cross between lace and lace-weight crochet so clumsy me hasn't been able to ladder or damage them at all.
- not even when entertaining grandchildren!

Mainly viscose so they hand wash. I pull them a bit into shape on the washing line and they bouce back.
I've had to steam a trim on the neckline once but no ironing!
I've also worn my jackets over other things - such as jeans.

They don't seem to crush (except the collar a bit once) - I stored my first one for years in a large shoe-box!

The second-hand outfit was £50 on eBay.
