People talking too fast

I see nothing wrong in asking people to slow down if they are talking too fast.

The whole point of speech is to be listened to and understood.

I know sometimes I speak very fast and don't mind at all if someone asks me to slow down.

It is annoying when people rattle off their information and I would have no problem in asking them to slow down if needed.
Don’t feel embarrassed or intimidated by this.

I find they do it on Corrie, especially the younger ones.

I try to lip-read when friends and acquaintances rattle off but being partially sighted, that skill has mostly left me.

I have noticed thst young people often speak at break neck speed!

I find NHS staff are often the worst when it comes to talking quickly. I understand that they’re under pressure to get through appointments but in the end it only makes them take longer as I have to keep asking them to repeat things.

I ask NHS staff to slow down and speak clearly for my Dh to hear. I emphasise that while this is their job, day in, day out, most of what they’re saying is new to us and we need time to take it in. Sometimes staff apologise and thank me for reminding them.

Recently, my hearing has deteriorated to the point where I do need to have a hearing test. My adult grandchildren were here a few days ago. They were talking nine to the dozen, I could barely understand. I had to constantly say ‘Pardon’?
