How about first woman in parliament. Her name is on the tip of my tongue. I do know having lived there it was a Plymouth constituency?

I can see her house on The Hoe! Nancy Astor, but that was a few years earlier, I think.

Ok, nexus63 and Ziplok, the honour goes to both of you. At one minute to midnight the General Strike was announced. I am delighted to say some of my family and my husband's took part.

And my father didn't because he was in the Royal Navy.
RN personnel were sent to maintain essential services, anything else would have been mutiny! Although my father was away in the Far East for nearly three years at that time anyway.
